Very basic. Nothing like the photo above the class description. Very small amounts of icing given to students to practice with and use. Instructor did most of final decorations on cookies. I’ve taken classes at Sue La Table where we had more hands on for less money. However the instructor was knowledgeable and friendly. I left a early due to weather and basically being disappointed

Class room is crowded. Very cold in the room. The instructor was not helpful. I prefer the NY cake academy. Decorating the styrofoam, awful. Did not learn much from this class. Waste of time and money

I enjoyed the class but it wasn't as hands on as I would have liked. The instructor made the cookie dough (which was fine, I didn't need to do it) but she also made the royal icing. I would have preferred to make my own to see what the correct consistency should be. This was what I needed help with. All of the colored icing was on the table and ready to go. I would have liked to see the best way to make and get ready numerous colors.

Love this informative, hands on class. Definitely an amazing beginner class with a wonderful instructor. You don’t need any knowledge just a love for the art and eye for royal icing cookies!
The space is intimate and you feel supported by the instructor. Plus everything you need to bake in your own kitchen is right upstairs in the store.

Excellent class. I have baked my whole life and could never really finish my cakes to look refined. With the basics Juan taught us and the proper tools, I am confident I can get a smooth finish already and with practice I will be able to make a beautiful cake.

I was a student of the Sugar Room. my experience there has been a great one. I do not speak Spanish - how ever he interpreted for me as well. He is a good teacher- he has years of experience in the culinary arts and he is good at what he does. Juan is really passionate about teaching and baking- he doesn't like fooling around and a lot of talking in his class- but then again no teacher does.

Wonderful! Great lesson and great shop. I had an outstanding experience with my cake decorating lesson. Juan Arache was delightful to spend time with. He is an excellent teacher, patient, helpful, informative. He gave excellent instructions that really helped to put me on track. The work area is lovely, clean, cheerful and well organized.

I loved the class, my instructor knew was he was doing, I learned allot but I felt a lil rushed, but overall great class

The class wasn't very good. I had high expectations due to the photos included in the CH description (various colored piping bags, cupcakes decorated). Basically, we watched the instructor use 5-6 tips to make about 2 patterns each, then we practiced. We used pre-made icing (we got a printed recipe) and it was already dyed! (We couldn't even pick the color we wanted to use.) We got to use a plastic cake board, tips, one disposable bag and icing. We watched him make patterns, then tried to replicate them with some instruction along the way on our boards. He was a good instructor and very willing to help but the class itself sorta fell flat. We didn't PRODUCE anything. We just made some decorations, cleaned up our stations and left.
I overall feel truly mislead. The description said we would learn "the correct use of the pastry bag, and different tips to create star borders, shell borders, rosette borders, zigzags borders, inverse borders, lettering, bead, roses and ruffles and more." We didn't learn half of that stuff! No lettering, no bead, no roses, no ruffles... I would have loved to at least practice my designs on actual cookies or cupcakes, as thats the point of the class.
I did, however, buy a piping kit to practice at home. Hoping to learn more via YouTube.

It was good, the class is a long practice session but the teacher is very helpful and provides fun tips and techniques
-
It was great, the one thing I would say is that I wish it was a little more hands on and that there was more emphasis placed on the piping. As it stands, the class feels a little rushed and you can totally split it out into cake making basics and then cake decorating basics - right now it is both.

The course is not what I expected. The class teach us how to use the pipping. He don't give any recipes. How can I do my own pipping if I don't have the recipes. A solution: you have to buy from his store upstairs. Or better going YouTube and find the recipes there.
For two weeks we have the same class using the same pipping. My expectation and program described when you sign in for the class is to have different class every week. I don't recommend!!!!
