Reviews for Pastry Classes in NYC

Pastry Classes in NYC are rated 4.7 stars based on 446 verified reviews from actual CourseHorse.com purchasers.

  • Baking a croissant can be very intimidating, especially for someone who is a novice in the kitchen. But this class walks you through the process. You work in teams with pre-measured and sorted ingredients, and in the end, you have some baked goods to take home!
  • Wonderful experience! The class is very well-structured so students can experience all the parts of a two-day process in a few hours. Chef Simon is an excellent teacher.
  • Fun class, well organized. Croissants were delish!
  • I have taken courses with them multiple times. Honestly you cannot go wrong with any of their classes. Thank you Atelier Sucré for the wonderful experiences!
  • This was a really nice experience and I learned a lot! Great instructor, lovely kitchen space.
  • Great experience! The croissants were delicious and the instructor was super knowledgeable. Would definitely do another class there!
  • The chef was great!!!
  • Great instruction, fun and entertaining.
  • This was a great class! The evening was well structured and class size was small so there was ample opportunity to ask questions. I learned a lot and can't wait to try on my own.
  • Instructor was very good. We got a lot of good information and it wasn’t just practicing a little in the kitchen or just following a recipe
  • Surprised me as it was an easier class than I expected (though I need practice with my dough rolling techniques) We made two different fried doughnuts with jelly and nutella fillings. Chef Samantha was friendly, answered by questions and provided hands-on assistance.
  • So fun! And you get 4 delicious croissants each at the end
  • The course was extremely thorough with great handouts. We went through everything from best tools to best ingredients. A bonus was taking home our own sourdough bread as well as tasting a few varieties.
  • This was such a fun class. I am surprised by how easy Beignets are to make, and you can make them at home. You actually learn how to make these from raw materials/ingredients. The instructor is super nice and goes around to each table, so there's an opportunity for personalized instruction, too. Would recommend for those that want to be able to make something sweet at home from scratch, and not too complicated.
  • The instructor was really fun to work with. She also gave us some great tips and tricks and insights. She also gave us some great recipes.
  • I absolutely loved it.
  • We had a great time! The instructor was very knowledgeable. I think the two of us thought it might be a little more of a social experience, but it was certainly very informative and everything tasted great!
  • The class was great! We learned so much and had a great time doing it. Went home with a starter and a baked loaf!
  • Chef Samantha was very funny, attentive and helpful. She shared many useful tips that could be applied to baking outside of just croissants (IE - different temperatures for gas v convention ovens and proofing in a home oven). Walked away feeling really confident about baking croissants on my own and had a blast during the class. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.
  • Fun class; delicious pastries. 10/10.
  • It was great and Emily was a kind and helpful instructor. The time went by fast and maybe it could have been 30 min longer. It's tough to jutify that from a financial perspective though. It felt fast paced to get everthing baked in time (could be I was just slow lol) but it was fun.
  • Maybe I left my review in the wrong place. The class was really great in every way. Emily was especially wonderful.
  • It was amazing. ? Thank you so much
  • Great Class with a great teacher. Worth every penny
  • Very fun class!
  • Emily was a great instructor and the class was a lot of fun. We met some cool people and learned a lot about the process of making croissants. The best part, obviously, was smelling the croissants as they came out of the oven and eating them fresh and piping hot. Honestly, some of the best croissants I’ve ever had. I like the set up of the class as well so that we were able to experience each part of the croissant making process but still able to eat our creations. Will definitely be back for some of their other classes.
  • My friend and I took the Bake Your Own French Croissant class for a birthday celebration - we had a great time. The instructor was a master of his craft but was able to teach in a way that was easy to understand. He leaned into his dry French humor, which made the class all the more fun. I have more appreciation for all croissants now, knowing the amount of work and time it takes to create these perfectly laminated deliciousness.
  • I went with my friend. We had the best time. The instructor was awesome. The croissants were delicious. We were paired with another super fun duo. It was a great time and we learned a lot. I’m looking forward to taking more courses.
  • The class was really good. I learned a lot. The teacher taught me in detail. And it was the best class that taught me how to make croissants.
  • I loved it. Chef was knowledgeable - things were well organized and started on time. Facilities were a little small and out of the way but that can work too sometimes. I am definitely going to do more classes
  • It was a really comprehensive but accessible baking lesson, and intimate due to the size of the group. Very worth the price.
  • Efficient and fun! Emily was great. I would give her 81 stars- the number of layers in our croissants.
  • It was great from start to finish. I learned some great baking techniques and made some pretty delicious scones, Victoria sponge, and chocolate genoise. I wish we had more baked goods to snack on during the class--everything was gobbled up so quickly. I'm glad I could take home the recipes and I made the cheddar thyme scones recently.
  • It was great! Definitely have snack or lunch before. I left with strong appreciation for my bakers. The space is small so not very accessible. The instructors were great and the croissant turn out perfect!
  • The class was spectacular! The instructor, Chef Eric was superb! An amazing teacher. The space was great! And of course the results were delicious. I will definitely return to to take other classes.
  • We absolutely love the class. It taught us how to make plain croissants, chocolate filled croissants, and savory croissants. Every bite was absolutely delicious!
  • Wonderful experience and a wonderful teacher. My wife and I cherished the experience. I cannot suggest any improvements. Keep it the way it is.
  • Amazing class! Instructors were helpful and engaging. Beginner-friendly. Croissants turned out to be delicious and looked just like pastries you’d buy from a cafe. Definitely recommend this class!
  • Chef Jen was fantastic! Such a fun and instructive teacher. Walked out feeling capable of making croissants!
  • This course was so much fun! The group of ladies in the course were amazing! Our instructor natanya was fantastic, her explanations were clear and she always explained why we should do things a certain way and how it affects the bake! Highly recommend these courses!
  • The experience was great! The class was very thorough and felt like it was meant my for my level of baking. The instruction and setup was all very professional, and the studio was clean.
  • It was so good! We went to the class as part of a Christmas gift from myself to my boyfriend Chris. We had so much fun at the class and getting to bake some of the recipes based on the show was amazing. The whole itinerary was very organized and well thought out. The music for the Great British Bake Off was playing in the background so it was was so easy to immerse yourself in that experience. Totally recommend 10/10.
  • Chef Jen was so funny and a great teacher! We accidentally made a mistake and ended up not being able to make any pan au chocolat and she gave us hers. Sweetest lady ever! Definitely want to take more classes here :)
  • Taking this course was one of the most fun and educational experiences ever! The course is designed to concentrate a multiple day project into a few hours in which the students get to participate in every step of the process from creating the dough, doing the turns, and forming the croissants. Chef Makenna and Assistant Paola (super stars) were wonderful in presenting clear instructions, excellent demonstrations and giving individual attention. I brought home 8 super large croissants which were gladly consumed. I can't wait to take another class.
  • Croissants were excellent. A bit challenging for a beginner but certainly doable
  • from the moment we arrived, we were welcomed warmly and set up for success. I was celebrating my birthday and the instructions were so kind to our group. we learned to make the classics and received recipes we continue to use.
  • I loved it! Well planned class.
  • So. Much. Fun.
  • What an amazing class! The instructor and her amazing assistant taught us all the skill and art of making croissants. Couldn't have ask for anything better.
  • Fun and well organized class! The instructor Jen and assistant (didn’t get her name- but thank you!) were super patient and fun. Definitely will like to schedule another class!

Diets have included pastries since ancient Egyptian times. Ancient Greeks and Romans made pastries from almonds, flour, honey, seeds, and honey. Sugar introduced to European cooking led to a new wave of pastries, with several major countries taking center stage in the baking industry.
