  Decorus Atelier and James, the founder and lead instructor, were fantastic. I’m just beginning my creative journey and have very little experience, but this introductory course was practical, filled with interesting tidbits, and accessible enough for me to learn real techniques. The class size was intimate and moved at my own pace which worked really well for the way my brain processes information. I felt comfortable and welcomed by everyone else. Highly recommend!

  We had such a wonderful experience taking the mille-feuille & madeleines class with Emily. She was an excellent teacher—knowledgeable, patient, encouraging, and incredibly generous with her tips and techniques. Emily made the class both informative and enjoyable, and she explained each step clearly while making everyone feel comfortable and confident. I learned so much about the techniques behind making a beautiful mille-feuille, and I left feeling inspired to try it at home.

  Saturday Figure Drawing was a great experience. The model was excellent, the artists were congenial, the monitor was helpful and welcoming and the oreos were the cherry on top. Can't wait to go again.

  I am not a cook whatsoever and I took this class on a whim with some friends and I had a great time. Chef Terrance and Lincoln made the class fun and I learned a lot more about how I can improve my cuts (and become a better prep assistant).

  This was an incredibly fun and helpful class. My previous teacher experiences learning watercolor made me not enjoy it as I didn’t understand the process correctly. This class was entirely different, with the instructor Anna Levy being engaging, funny, informative and allowed me to finally understand the art of watercolor while having a relaxing experience at the same time.

  My daughter and I took the Knife Skills class together, and it was a wonderful experience. This was our second class with Chef Paul. We learned how important proper knife maintenance is, and got to experience it firsthand by cutting vegetables with well-maintained knives — the difference was clear. I was familiar with many of the cutting techniques we covered, but it was nice watching my daughter learn them in the class. Chef Paul was incredibly patient and explained everything clearly every step of the way. And the food we got to enjoy at the end was absolutely delicious!

  What a wonderful way to get into focaccia making. The teacher was easy and charismatic. I even learned a few new tips on how to make a good focaccia at home. Just prepare to stand up for the entire class. The great thing about the class also it didn’t feel overcrowded. Thankfully everyone had enough space as it is a little bit tight the room.

  I thoroughly enjoyed the basic Ikebana class with instructor and assistant. It was exquisite though her mastery of Ikebana floral design was for a considerable length of years, during the class she allowed us attendees the freedom to be creative with our designs. The class was a delight to learn of this technique of Ikebana.

The bakes we made were delicious and fun, and the small class size made for a cozy little group. Would absolutely sign up for the sweet treats class if that one is offered again!

  Great professional instruction. Accommodating to student various needs. My progress was obvious with instruction very one on one. The June Tuesday Thursday program classes offered and day time made it very convenient. And building elevator made it accessible Highly recommend. I’ll try to go again when can get to nyc in the future.

  I'm relatively a beginner and this was a great course for me. It was a small class in a nice studio in Dumbo. The instructor Bradley was very nice, kind, and patient, and happy to help in anyway. All materials were provided so I didn't have to worry about buying or carrying anything. I'd definitely take another class here

  My girlfriend and I really enjoyed taking Fundamentals of Drawing & Painting and learned a great deal in a short amount of time. One of the most valuable concepts we learned was mark-making (mark-mapping), which helped us observe subjects more carefully and translate what we saw onto the page with greater confidence. We also gained a better understanding of proportion, value, light, and shadow, which made our drawings feel more accurate and dimensional. Raphael was an excellent teacher - patient, knowledgeable, and always willing to provide helpful feedback that met students where they were! The learning environment was welcoming and supportive, and it was inspiring to learn alongside other students who were equally excited to improve their skills. What we appreciated most was the focus on observation and process rather than perfection, which made the class approachable and enjoyable. We left feeling much more confident in our abilities and are excited to continue building on these fundamentals. We hope to keep learning and growing as artists with Raphael moving forward.

  The class was so much fun. I attended with my sisters and dad. We were able to make all different shapes and sizes for the donuts. We also made the glazes. The best part was decorating them. Definitely recommend if you are a donut lover!

  This was all I could want from live figure drawing -- a great model who was creative with their poses, nice snacks, and a warm welcome. And the space is amazing -- if I'd had more time, I would've checked out the current art exhibit! I'll definitely try to come back.
