this is a great class. you can really make chocolate from scratch. from selecting the bean, to grinding it in a bunch of different machines, adding ingredients and finally, pouring liquid chocolate into nice little bars you get to take home. this is thorough enough for people who want to start making their own, but also enjoyable if you’re just curious, and don’t ever plan to do it again. a bit messy, but very yum

I received this tour as a gift and it was incredible! You learn so much in the walk-around factory tour and get to do some fun taste-testing along the way. Creating our own three bars was definitely the highlight! Will keep an eye out for their chocolate in stores :)

Loved the class! Learned so much information about various types of chocolate making and how Raaka is different. The employees at Raaka are so passionate about what they do and it was wonderful to experience that first hand. The “chocolate making” may have only been a small portion of the class, but the whole experience was wonderful! Would definitely recommend!

This was an intense, informative and fun introduction to the process of making chocolate by an enthusiastic and interesting presenter. Though one might think from the course name that you were going to crush, clean, grind, melt, temper and mold your own chocolate bars, more accurately you will learn how the first 5 steps, along with wrapping each bar, evolved at Raaka from drudgingly doing them by hand to the (often unique) mechanized systems they now have in place. Along the way, you do get to mold and flavor 3 of your very own Raaka Chocolate bar creations and end with a tasting of many of Raaka's chocolate flavors. You will leave with a deeper appreciation of one of life's little, complex pleasures!

Highly recommended! If you go to Raaka's official website, a tour is $10 and a class (including the tour) is $50, although sometimes its $75 on Coursehorse! The tour lasted for 1 hour and 20 mins and the actual 'chocolate making' lasted 10 mins for the group of 12, and is only a 2 to 3 MINUTE LONG PROCESS for each person - it consisted of catching ready-made chocolate in a mold, spreading it out/tempering using a vibrating machine, and then sprinkling toppings on (the chocolate cools and hardens super fast so u need to get the toppings on fast if you want them to stick), then refrigerate for 30 mins while the tour goes on. You get to keep 3 bars that you make (you can buy 3 bars of raaka chocolate for $15 at the factory). I'm giving it 4 stars because we had a blast - the tour guide was great, it was informative and fun, learned a lot about the bean to bar process, got to taste beans and chocolate at different stages, and it was fun to make our own bars. But keep in mind it might not be the best value since for a tour (which is already awesome in itself!) and 3 bars of professionally-made raaka chocolate it would cost only 25$.

This class/tour was amazing! Very knowledgable and friendly tour guide/host. Taught us all about making chocolate and then we sampled lots of different varieties and made 3 bars of our own. I'd highly recommend it to a friend. Great date idea.

Great class, loved the tour, tasting, and chocolate making. Loses a star because it was advertised as being 2 hours long and barely lasted 80 minutes.

    Rohan G. • December 6, 2015
I enjoyed the class a lot; the staff were very knowledgeable and informative, and I learned a lot about the chocolate making process. I think the only comment I would make is that I probably expected a bit more involvement in the making process, rather than just pouring some ready made chocolate into a mould. I only say this because it was advertised as a 'chocolate-making' course. However, this is just a minor comment, otherwise it was great!

The class was fun and informative, and the teacher was really great! I loved the hands-on bar making component and the tasting of the raw cacao at the beginning compared to the finished bars at the end.

Really interesting and fun to taste the nuisances of different chocolates
