What you'll learn in this graphic design class:

In this hands-on Graphic Design Bootcamp, you will expand your knowledge of design concepts and processes while producing portfolio projects. This class focuses on how to design and assumes knowledge of Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator.

Assignments will be critiqued during class both by the instructor and during group critiques. You’ll incorporate the feedback into your work and finish the assignment in class, or outside of class as homework (you should expect to work outside of class). Upload your work to Adobe Portfolio (included with your Creative Cloud membership) and you’ll have a portfolio website!

This course has a Prerequisite:

Class was good. Challenged ppl creatively but the fundamentals of graphic design could have been explained in more depth. Ex: kerning and leading. Two important fundamentals of graphic design that was covered in 2 minutes. Spend more time on The basics that help designs make a lasting impact and give / show examples. Overall i would say the class was not worth the dollar amount I paid.

This was a good theory class. There was very little practice/application during class but we did have projects to work on as homework. The instructor was very eager to share his industry experience and application skills. Overall it's a great class to learn about art history, typography, color, etc. It's mainly lecture focused.

Question from Anna O.
Hello, I would like to take this course, but I do not have a solid understanding of InDesign. I have used it before, but do not feel confident using it. I see this course starts on July 31st and the InDesign In A Day class is not offered until August 8th. Are there other InDesign courses you could suggest to help me prepare for this course?
Answer from Brenda L. CourseHorse StaffCourseHorse Staff
Hi there! The school actually recommend that the student have a solid understanding of InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator. If you are more comfortable with one of these applications over the others, you can complete most of your designs in that application. For this course, however, students do already need to be comfortable enough using an application to start designing as the course will not teach the basics of using the applications. The school would recommend completing our 18-hour Adobe InDesign Bootcamp to get up to speed: https://coursehorse.com/baruch/classes/tech/all-software/adobe/indesign/adobe-indesign-cs6-beginner-to-intermediate?schedule=2060573. Hope this helps!

Question from Tanya N.
Does this class teach any computer skills such as photoshop?
Answer from Brenda L. CourseHorse StaffCourseHorse Staff
Hi Tanya! The Graphic Design Fundamentals class teaches graphic design principles and concepts. It is a project-based class and assumes prior knowledge of Adobe applications, including Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator. The student will need to take a Photoshop class prior to taking this class if they don’t have prior experience with the application. Hope this helps!

Question from Anna L.
Hello, how important is it to have a solid understanding of InDesign before starting this class? I have used it before but do not feel confident in it, but otherwise this class is exactly what I'm looking for. Anyone have thoughts -- can I learn how to use InDesign as I go in this class or will I be lost? Thanks!
Answer from Michael D. Verified Student
If I recall correctly, the course relied more on Illustrator, which I had little experience in but still enjoyed and learned a lot.
Answer from Brenda L. CourseHorse StaffCourseHorse Staff
This class does NOT teach InDesign. A working knowledge of the program is required. We recommend you take this class first: https://coursehorse.com/nyc/classes/tech/all-software/adobe/indesign/indesign-in-a-day Hope this helps!
