Erica Paulson Rosenberg

Erica Paulson Rosenberg has always been intrigued by the fiber arts. She is particularly interested in the wet felting process because the outcome always has an element of surprise. Erica teaches creative dance in two schools on the upper west side. Prior to her work in dance education, she was a ‘Broadway Baby’, dancing, singing and acting in musical theater productions on and off Broadway, in national and international tours, and in many wonderful regional theaters around the country. She grew up in the Northwest, getting her undergraduate degree at Portland State University. After moving to New York and starting her career in the performing arts, she married guitarist Chris Rosenberg, and their son Ivan was born. Ivan is also involved in the performing arts, playing trumpet. Along the journey, the fiber arts have been a constant in her life - sewing and embroidery as a young girl, then on to weaving, batik, and block printing. The ancient art of felting seemed like the ultimate use of fiber to create art, and has become Erica’s passion. She loves to create pieces that are beautiful but also have a function - bags, pouches, scarves, vessels, puppets, and dolls using wet felting, needle felting, and nuno techniques.
