Loved it. Instructor and class was great. Really fun experience and eager to keep learning.

The first class had some instruction but after that it was just you working alone. The instructor didn't really help after that. They were just either on their phone or working on their own project for the next 3 classes. If you had questions you could interrupt her but I did a lot of things wrong with my sewing project because I made incorrect beginner assumptions (because as a beginner you don't know when you are supposed to ask questions, there are common mistakes that no one told me about). These commons mistakes are things that I thought our teacher would explain to us.
These are the things that this course says that we are to learn (most of which you don't) and my notes of what you actually learn:
- All of the necessary sewing terminology & equipment
I guess? There was a lot that I had to teach myself
- How to read a commercial pattern
We kind of learned this, you had to figure most of it out yourself, and I wish we would have learned how to make the pants longer.
- How to choose the right fabric for a garment--either a skirt or drawstring pants.
We were not given enough instruction to get fabric. We were just told "some sort of linen or cotton". I went to a store and they charged me over $100 for fabric because they scammed me. I get it, I am a beginner, I don't know the cost of fabric but it would have been nice to know that the average cost for enough cotton or linen to make pants is like $40-$50. At least then I would have known that I was getting scammed and could have gone to another store.
- How to make bags with professional closures.
This was during the first day so she did go through this with us
- How to set in a waistband.
I had to figure this part out myself
- How to identify fabric grain lines.
This was during the first day so we did learn this
- Over 6 different types of stitches & seam finishes using a sewing machine!
This was no where. We maybe learned two different stitches, but no where close to 6. Idk if the teacher just didn't teach it or if this description is out of date.
I wouldn't recommend taking this class.

Class was small (there was about 7 of us). First couple of hours was learning to sew for tote bag , then break for 1 hour and the remaining hours was learning to sew the bottoms that you have chosen. I was not able to finish my project at the end but they gave an option to return another day to finish it up. Definitely learned a lot. Instructor was clear and patient with us.

The teacher explained everything in a clear manner, demonstrated and helped us as we worked. I am going to take the 101 next!
-
Quick and effective basics workshop! Instructors were clear, helpful, and answered all my questions.
-
Knowledgeable , patient and kind staff.

The entire class and studio were amazing

It was such a helpful class. Highly recommend if you're trying to learn how to alter your own clothes.

I really wasn't sure if I'd be ok as a complete novice in this class, but I was and had the BEST time! Two hours flew by. The instructor was a pleasure to work with and I love my little not-so-perfect tote bag. A reminder of which skills I need to work on.
-
The instructor completely modeled the class specifically for me and I learned exactly what I wanted to learn. I will come back for more lessons.
The sign up was a bit confusing as it was not clear that what you were signing up for is a 1 hour personal class. So you must call after signing up and set up a session.

The instructor was very patient and attentive, and the projects were appropriate for a beginner.
-
Amanda was very patient with me. She demonstrated and I still didn’t understand or remember next steps she showed me again.
-
Aubrey was amazing. Really patient and helpful!

I worked with Mary and she was a perfect match. I showed up over prepared with my machine and variations of fabric. She jumped right in and provided me with all of the base knowledge I need to jump into sewing including stitching techniques, fabrications, along with the ins and outs of my particular machine. There wasn’t a single question that was left unanswered and she was genuinely down to earth. The two hours flew by and I honestly wish I could rewind that whole day because we worked very well together. I’m so happy I chose this!!

I really enjoyed the class! The instructor was very knowledgeable and gave great lessons and I learned a lot! I've been wanting to take a fashion illustration class for a long time, and this was everything I hoped for. I just wish there was a part 2 of the class!

The instructor was very patient and very informative about the sewing machine project. I enjoyed it so much that I booked another session.

Great workshop, simple and fun. Small group class so it felt like a 1:1 class at times. Looking forward to more!
