Maya Sharma

Teaches at Brooklyn Comedy Collective

Maya Sharma is a Brooklyn-based comedian who self identifies as "weird and nice". Since graduating from Oberlin, Maya has studied comedy at The Annoyance, UCB, Second City, and The Brooklyn Comedy Collective, and performs all around town doing her little comedy bits. She is a member of The Ladies Who Ranch (LWR), a comedy coven of absurd girls that has been written up in Vulture, Buzzfeed, TimeOut and more. LWR has a monthly show at Union Hall, hosts a weekly open mic and a monthly improv show at the BCC, and are developing a half-hour sitcom. In 2019, Maya wrote for and co-hosted the Chris Gethard Presents Podcast (Earwolf) with her writing partner Justin Linville, and they currently co-host their own podcast called Excellent Week (all platforms). When she's not performing or producing, you can find her sending 1,000 emails as the Programming Director at BCC, or rewatching seasons of Rupaul's Drag Race for the 1,000th time. The most important thing to know about Maya is that improv is her favorite thing on the planet (brave of her to admit this), and so she is psyched and amped about being your teacher!
