Edison Osorio Zapata was born in Venezuela to Colombian migrants, but spent most of his youth in Australia where he trained in the culinary arts. This skill took him to Japan, where he opened a restaurant in Tokyo. In Japan, he developed an interest in art and pottery, which brought him back to Australia to study at the Canberra School of Arts with a major in glass.

Sophie Pennetier is a structural engineer at Arup in New York. She is involved in the design of non-conventional architectural projects and in research related to freeform geometry facades.
