Elmo Van Slingerland

Elmo Van Slingerland studied at the Rotterdamse Grafische School (School for printing and graphic arts). In 1986 he attended a workshop in France with Claude Mediavilla, which he considers as his start on the path of calligraphy. Finished study in Graphic/Typographic Design at the Royal Academy of Arts in The Hague (passed with distinction). Taught workshops in different countries in Europe, Australia, South Korea, Mexico and USA, and at The Royal Academy of Arts in The Hague (post-graduate course students type design). Worked as a freelance graphic designer/type designer (for DTL, for which he designed typeface Dorian, but worked on other typefaces too). 

Exhibited calligraphy in Belgium, France and the Netherlands and work selected for different publications. Since 2016, he divides his time between working for a design studio (specializing in corporate and annual reporting) and making letters and teaching workshops as much as possible.
