Being passionate about bringing dancers out of everyone, Akemi Kinukawa has been teaching and dancing Lindy Hop, the original form of swing dancing, for over 15 years. She has extensive experience teaching the dance to diverse students including children, youth, seniors, ESL students, Special Ed students, Japanese speakers and adults. She currently teaches at You Should Be Dancing! Dance Center in Manhattan but she hopes to build a swing dance community in Astoria, LIC and other parts of Queens.  

She also teaches partner dancing to children in public schools as a teaching artist of Dancing Classrooms, also known as “Mad Hot Ballroom.”  She has performed and choreographed Lindy Hop routines for various events, including Midsummer Night Swing at Lincoln Center.
