Yoga originated in India, where it was practiced in temperatures that reached and surpassed 100° Fahrenheit. In keeping with tradition the room is heated, which makes muscles more elastic and less susceptible to injury. This allows for both a safer and deeper practice. An added benefit of the heat is that it promotes perspiration, which allows for detoxification of impurities from the body. Aside from detoxification, both the cardiovascular and immune systems get a boost that results in improved blood flow and oxygen movement to the body’s cells and an increase in white blood cell production.
