In this engaging group art class, you will also receive individualized, tailor-made art instruction based on your personal needs and interests.
This NYC painting class will nourish your creative soul as you learn to release prior rigid rules and expectations and instead, develop your own authentic painting style while practicing the techniques and styles inspired by Claude Monet’s Water Lilies, Mary Cassat’s floral still lives, and Pissaro’s landscapes filled with dappled light. Combining the inspiration of impressionist painters with the relaxing joy of painting as our muse, you will learn the most important canvas painting techniques while also discovering an impressive, colorful and expressive painting style of your own.
Master the art of color mixing, composition, quick and textured brush strokes, emotional expression and more! Walk away at the end of this NYC painting class with multiple paintings to hang in your home!
In this Upper West Side painting class, you will:
- Experiment, explore, and learn how to create your own colorful, expressive paintings inspired by impressionism
- Learn fundamental artistic techniques that are core to painting, including color usage, expressive brush strokes, creating texture, composition, layering paint, warm and cool color combinations, and more!
- Deepen and expand your knowledge of color mixing and learn how to create color palettes that you love
- Receive individualized guidance and nurturing art instruction by a professional New York City artist and expert art instructor
- Enjoy live painting technique demonstrations to learn in “real time”
- Experiment with a wide variety of paintbrushes and learn which brushes to use, when, and why

Art Class Materials:
Materials are not included.
You will need:
- Stretched Canvas or Canvas board - Recommended size is 11 x 14 or smaller
- Acrylic Paints (White, Yellow, Red, Blue, and any other favorite colors you may have)
- Variety of Brushes (3 different sizes to make various lines and marks)
- Cup of Water
- Palette for paints
- Wax paper or a palette paper
Refund Policy
Class tuition is neither non-refundable nor transferable. No refunds will be issued after registration and payment. In case of a Medically Certified illness, a credit will be issued after receipt of your physician’s documentation. The value of the credit will be for the balance of the remaining class sessions with an additional deduction of a $95 registration fee. Credit may be used up to 12 months.
If after your first class you are dissatisfied with the quality of your course, a written note must be submitted within 1 business day after your first class. After receiving your note, refund of class tuition will be reviewed by our staff. If a refund is granted, processing of refunds requires 8-10 weeks. A 5% nonrefundable processing fee will be applied.
Course Cancellations
Although course cancellation is quite rare, The school reserves the right to cancel classes or change instructor assignments and makes every effort to notify students in advance. If enrollment goals are not met, a course may be canceled up to 1 business day before the first scheduled class. In the event of cancellation, a refund or credit is granted. On occasion, a course start-date will be pushed back if enrollment goals are not met. In this instance, you will receive a credit for the price of the class that did not take place.
Please note that there will be NO exceptions to this under any circumstances.
Make-up Policy
Unfortunately, The school does not offer any makeups for classes missed. However, if the student wants to get the most from the course and the absence, they can tell the instructor when they will be absent and the instructor can provide some guidance on exercises to practice while away.
In any event where a customer wants to cancel their enrollment and is eligible for a full refund, a 5% processing fee will be deducted from the refund amount.
