Question from Isis H.
Can I bring jewelry that I already have and melted down?
Answer from Brenda L. CourseHorse StaffCourseHorse Staff
Hi Isis! If you would like to bring your own materials, you may take the Jewelry Making Beginner's Course class instead (https://coursehorse.com/nyc/classes/art/jewelry/jewelry-making-beginner-s-course1). Thank you!
Answer from Linda D. Verified Student
Ayaka prepared a bar of metal to form into the ring before the class, so I don't believe you will be able to bring your own metal.

Question from Carol N.
When do we get the ring? Can I take this workshop to make a simple gold wedding band?
Answer from Joy S. Verified Student
I made a sterling silver ring and left with the ring at the end of class. I assume this would be the same for all metals. I think this ring would make a really cute wedding band!

My friend and I took it together and it was a ton of fun! We love our rings! The instructor and her assistant did all the soddering (with a blow torch) which I didn't mind so much considering I have no idea what I'm doing. The instructor is super talented and you can view and purchase her amazing pieces towards the front of the studio.

I am very disappointed in this class. While the description said premium materials could be purchased, I was only given the options of silver and brass. 4 other students from other courses were there and we were all competing for the instructors attention. I sat, waiting for what to do next for most of the class, and ended up being pretty much self directed or on my phone. The instructor does the welding and diamond setting for you - all you do is saw a metal sheet, stamp your initials and polish the ring. I am so disappointed I spent so much money to have a disappointing experience and a ring that turns my finger green. The teacher is very nice but she didn’t actually teach me anything.

Great introduction to the world of jewelry design and creation! It's an intimate school/shop setting so you get to really interact with Ayaka and her team. Totally recommend and will return for more classes!
