She really takes the time to teach every student and you can see how passionate she is about the art of jewelry making.   Carolina's class is excellent. It was amazing how much I learned in five classes and how many pieces I was able to make in that time. I knew nothing about ring making when I started, and I left the class with four wonderful, totally handmade rings for myself and my fiance. Carolina gives plenty of instruction, but she also gives you a lot of time to experiment, to design the things you want to make, and to get familiar to the tools. For someone like me, who doesn't appreciate a lot of hand-holding in classes, it was a hugely enjoyable experience. So much of the benefit is having access to a well-equipped workspace. I look forward to signing up for more time in her studio to continue learning and making cool stuff. Highly recommend for anyone curious.

  This class involves one project, a lovely twisted wire ring, although if you're quicker or more skilled (I'm just kind of intermediate), you may have time for an extra piece. It was challenging, but I learned a lot and was pretty proud of what I accomplished. It will be even more exciting when the new jewelery labs at 92nd Street Y open with new equipment!

  I love Carolina as a teacher. She is so knowledgeable about her craft and her studio is amazing. She also does a great job of catering her teaching to each student and encourages creativity and making the piece you want to make. The only downside to this class is that sometimes she has many students and there are times where students are just waiting in line for their turn to talk to her.

  I had an great time at the Woodsmith Knife Making Class! The instructors were super knowledgeable and made the whole process fun and easy to follow. It was so satisfying to shape, grind, and finish my own knife from scratch. They provide a break in the middle of class for lunch. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a hands-on, creative experience for their partner as a gift! lol we ended being a class of all birthdays.

  It was an absolute pleasure and Ken our instructor was not only knowledgeable, but extremely flexible, tailoring it to our desires, while making sure we had the basics down. I absolutely recommend this class and my only regret was that it was way too short!

  This course opened my eyes to the world of jewelry making and make me want to set up a bench at home. Particularly valuable were the list of connections in the Diamond District.   Carolina is a fantastic instructor. No matter what direction you want to take jewelry making, hobbyist-professional, Carolina will be able to help you along your journey. It is important to know what you get out of this is what you put in. Metalsmithing is thousands of years of knowledge and won’t be compressed into a short amount of time. The first set of classes you will begin to work on basic fundamentals while working on your first pieces. This will require you to interact with businesses up on 47th street, while at times this can be frustrating, the finished jewelry will be worth the time put in. Carolina is very passionate about the art form, and you will learn a tremendous amount in the class. She is very easy to reach if you have questions.

  I love Benlolo Studio jewelry class!! I have been taking weekly evening class since May and this is one of the BEST presents I have given myself. My instructor is super nice, kind, specific, and encouraging. I have made things I'd never dreamt I could make. I have ideas and images of jewelry I would like to wear but no one is making them in the market, so I get to make them myself. Studio is immaculate with all kinds of tools we need. Everything is super well-maintained and they have great support system. Totally love taking their courses!

  Class at Benlolo has been phenomenal. I look forward to it so much every week. The studio itself feels timeless and so special. My instructor, Colette, is extremely knowledgeable and encouraging. There is a perfect balance of “me time,” where everyone is focused and working on their projects, and class time, where we learn new things from Colette. I will probably end up signing up for more classes when my time is up!

  This is a wonderful place to learn how to make jewelry! I booked a deal package and quickly fell in love with the process and the studio's atmosphere. It's fun and laid back, and Collette is a fantastic teacher who really takes time to share her craft and help students develop their creativity.

  It’s been over 1.5 year of taking classes at the studio & it’s the best thing I did for myself. Although I worked in the diamond wholesale business & have a gemologist certification the process of “ jewelry making” was completely new to me. Not only do I have a renewed appreciation for jewelers , their creativity , passion & their honed skill as true artisan. The class size is small & the set -up allows for full range of work station from wax carving to setting, soldering & polishing . My teacher Collette is a patient , compassionate teacher and a very accomplished jeweler ! It’s a friendly environment where people from all walk of life gather to learn what we’ve been curious or passionate about … so it’s uplifting & interesting . There’s no shortage of creativity in this studio! My only regret is that I didn’t start this much earlier . Work, family responsibilities all took precedence but now I’m at a happy place when i get to come to class !

The advanced class is structured in a way where you can get as much or as little help as you need. With decades of instructor experience to draw on, the possibilities are truly endless, from wax carving to complex silver and gold creations. I can’t recommend them enough.

  I am really enjoying the Metalsmithing class. Carolina is not only a very talented jeweler and metalsmither; she is a wonderful teacher and person.! We have many hours to learn and she finds time for each of us. There are usually only 3 other people in the studio at the same time. I am learning the basics of metalsmithing and Carolina is immensely supportive and I made a ring already after only 3 classes. I highly recommend this course to anyone who wants to learn metalsmithing, be creative and have some relaxing craft time with a wonderful educator.
