This class explores a modern take on a very traditional decorative art! Mosaics have been created in many cultures across many centuries with countless designs. Come on down to UrbanGlass to create your own!
We will be utilizing fused glass techniques to create purely glass mosaic pieces. Traditionally a mix of mortars, glass, and substrate, we will be melting different colors of glass to emulate the style of mosaic art that will be smooth to the touch and mesmerizing to the eye.
What to Expect: Students will make either several small mosaic tiles or one 12”x12” composition. After a brief demonstration, most of the class will be spent working on planning, designing, cutting, gluing, and sifting before putting works into the kiln to fuse.
Eligibility: No experience required. Open to ages 14 and up.
Pick-up: The glass needs to fire, fuse, and cool down overnight, so the students will have to return to UrbanGlass once notified to pick up their work.
This is an in-person class taking place on-site at UrbanGlass. Health and safety guidelines will be emailed to you upon registration.
