These soaps will remedy the wintertime blues of dry skin! Discover the art of incorporating fresh produce and various milks (regular and vegan) into your soap creations in this soap making class in NYC. You'll join soap making expert Marla Bosworth for this exciting, new cold process soap making class, where you will learn how to create your own moisturizing and luxurious milk and fruit soaps.
You'll learn to make and gift (or sell) unique carrot, pumpkin, cucumber, papaya, and other soaps with fresh fruits and vegetables. Throughout the class, Marla will guide you through the process of including these tricky ingredients in your soap, sharing her tips and techniques to create customized soaps that your friends, family, or customers will absolutely adore.
You'll learn how to work with biodegradable micas to make your soaps uniquely your own.
This is the perfect time to incorporate fresh, pureed, or juiced produce into your soap. Marla will teach you how to overcome the challenges of natural sugars in produce that can cause soap to heat up.
Additionally, Marla has a simple technique for adding milk, such as goat's milk and coconut cream, to your soap without the need for freezing.
Don't worry if you're new to soap making or have limited experience. Marla will simplify the process, providing a detailed handout and recipes for you to use during the class and at home. Plus, she'll also show you how to scale up your batch sizes so you can make larger quantities of soap.
As a bonus, you'll have the opportunity to make two large recipes in this class. You'll create a Fresh Papaya and Coconut Milk Soap as well as Marla's bestselling, moisturizing Goat's Milk Soap. You will take home plenty of soap from each recipe, ensuring you have a fantastic collection to start or expand your soap-making endeavors.
Please note that this class does not cover the basics of soap making. If you're a beginner, it is recommended to attend Marla's Introductory Course for Soap Making prior to attending. This class welcomes students with no prior experience, but there won't be time to answer questions about basic soap making in this intermediate class. Feel free to reach out to determine if this class is the right fit for you.
