What you'll learn in this python class:

In this 2-day course, students will be introduced to Python. Python is a great beginner coding language that is quick to learn and extremely versatile. Python can be used to build software, to analyze data, and build amazing websites.

Python has become the most popular coding language learned at educational institutes for several reasons. Firstly, Python developers earn one of the highest average salaries compared to other programming languages, with statistics compiled by Indeed.com revealing that an average Python developer makes approximately $120,923. Secondly, Python has many uses such as graphics, data science, web development, finance, trading, and security. Lastly, Python can be learned faster than many other languages. As a result, no matter if you are a beginning developer or a developer looking to add a new programming language to your resume, you can become skilled in Python much more quickly than it would take to learn most other languages. In short, Python is a great first programming language to learn, and has the added advantage of a higher salary!

Students will learn about the syntax, principles, and thought processes that programming entails.

What You’ll Learn

  • Learn how to operate using a text editor and terminal.
  • Learn how to write your own Python code that will be able to iterate over data sets.
  • Understand how to think like a programmer and become comfortable with Python’s syntax.
  • Create code to solve every-day real-life problems.
  • Learn how to write complex programs using Python.
  • Learn how computers execute programs.

Overall very happy wit the course. The third class became very confusing and hard to keep up. The instructor tried to touch all the materials that perhaps was too much for one class.

Great class to get started with python. Pros - We covered a lot in only three lessons. (Taking your time to go over the notes and exercises afterwards is imperative if you want to learn). -Art and Tim were great teachers who were happy to answer any questions and are very knowledgable. -There was a snowstorm on the night of my second class, and I couldn't make it from work in time. Art let me move to the next cohort with no dramas at all. -Art is always available for questions, he got back to me within minutes whenever I asked him about something. Cons - This may not even be a con, but we jumped straight into the language and syntax. If you are a complete beginner to coding, you'll need to go over what a terminal is, what a shell is, and how enter things in the command line. I had dabbled a bit on Codecademy, but never really attempted to code for real and this was a bit disorienting at first. About 20 min of googling after the first class had me up to speed though. Overall a great class and would totally recommend if you want to start learning python.

A good entry level class, a lot of material is covered and the potential of Python is clear. There were 2 professor, one much better than the other, both really nice guys and willing to give personal attention. The class could have been better structured and better paced. I liked that they do allow time for students to work on programs so a person can tell if they are getting it, this actually did not happen much in the third class and I could tell not many people were getting the material.

Art is terrific and very patient. He knows his material and stops to be sure all are following along. I would highly recommend this class to people interested in learning Python from scratch.
