What you'll learn in this medical training:

Medical Assistants usually work in outpatient settings, which are expected to continue to grow in the future, spurring the demand for flexible support personnel. Medical Assistants provide employers the flexibility to meet both patient needs and administrative needs cost-effectively.

Medical Assistants play an important role in physicians' offices, clinics, and other facilities where health care services are offered on an outpatient basis. The duties of the Medical Assistant vary from one medical office to another depending on size, location, and specialty. In the smaller medical setting, Medical Assistants handle both administrative and clinical duties. In larger offices Medical Assistants tend to specialize, and focus on either the clinical or administrative aspects.

Although clinical duties vary, they will likely include but not be limited to the following responsibilities:
  • Apply principles of aseptic technique and infection control
  • Prepare and assist with examinations, procedures, and treatments
  • Obtain patient history and vital signs
  • Collect and process specimens
  • Perform or assist with diagnostic tests, including performing an EKG.
  • Taking blood for examination (Phlebotomy)
  • Performing certain lab tests
  • Screen and follow patient test results
  • Maintain medication and immunization records
  • Adhere to established triage procedures, and
  • Coordinate patient care information with other health care providers
Administrative duties will likely include but are not limited to the following responsibilities:
  • Basic clerical duties
  • Schedule, coordinate, and monitor scheduling
  • Schedule inpatient/outpatient procedures and admissions
  • Perform medical transcription
  • Perform procedural and diagnostic coding
  • Obtain reimbursement through accurate claims (insurance) submission
  • Monitor and follow-up on third-party (insurance) reimbursement
  • Apply bookkeeping principles
  • Document and maintain accounting and banking records
  • Manage accounts payable, accounts receivables, and payroll

8 month Classroom; 3 month Externship
For the convenience of our students, school programs are organized into different schedules, which divide programs into segments of instruction called “quarters” or “terms”. Course 6 weeks in length or less are referred to as “mini courses”.  Refund policies, which are governed by New York State law, will be different depending upon whether your program and schedule is less than six weeks, or it is divided by terms or quarters, and how many terms or quarters are contained within each program and schedule.

Review your enrollment agreement carefully to determine the policy, which applies to your selected schedule and program.

Quarters Refund Policy
