Description
What you'll learn in this clothing class:
In this session students will learn how to draft and construct a non-stiffened, supportive bodice and attached skirt. The style is a basic underdress that was commonly worn in the 16th and 17th centuries. I was typically worn beneath other layers for protection and bust support. Students who have them, should bring a shift or chemise (a type of 16th century undershirt) to class on the 4th day when the kirtle will be tired on. A large, loose white shirt can be used if the student has no chemise.
Sessions include:
DAY 1:
Note: Comfortable clothing is a must. Students must bring their own, open topped, tailor's thimble. Notebooks and pens/pencils for taking notes are highly recommended.

DAY 1:
- Field trip to NYC Garment District to buy supplies and shop for fabrics (Budget around 250.00 for this excursion)
- Return to Studio for lecture and to make patterns
- Double check patterns and cut out garments
- Begin Assembly of pieces
- Continue assembling clothing
- Continue assembling clothing
- First test fitting
- Begin finishing of pieces
- Final lecture/discussion
Note: Comfortable clothing is a must. Students must bring their own, open topped, tailor's thimble. Notebooks and pens/pencils for taking notes are highly recommended.
Refund Policy
If no students sign up for a class within 2 weeks of the session, it will be cancelled. Even if only a single student signs up for a week long course, the school will teach.
In the event that an instructor or the school needs to cancel at the last minute, students will receive a refund less a 5% non-refundable registration fee.
