What you'll learn in this stone setting class:

In this one day lens setting workshop, students will learn to set gemstones with sterling bezel wire; allowing light through stones while creating an illusion of a floating stone. One will learn to set faceted or cabochon stones in light settings by using a bezel pusher and hammer piece. 

Students are encouraged to bring stones to make into a finished jewelry piece. Examples of stones that would work well for this type of setting are: transparent faceted beads, tourmaline slices, moss agates, rainbow agates and semi transparent rose cut stones.

I had a great time in this class! The instructor was super knowledgeable and had a ton of industry experience, so she was able to answer questions from that very practical perspective. She was also super patient and handled a very full class asking for help and advice gracefully. The space was awesome: gorgeous jewelry in the front, plenty of benches all the equipment we'd need in the back! I live in Detroit but will definitely be back next time I'm in the city!
