What you'll learn in this jewelry class:

This method of stone setting dates back to ancient times but has seen a resurgence in popularity in contemporary jewelry design. Students will learn how to set stones flush with the surface of their metal by carefully drilling, seating and then burnishing stones in place. This versatile technique will open up a world of design options for students while honing dexterity and skill applicable  to any jewelry practice. We will explore hand-making and customizing tools, while sharing tips and trade secrets of the “old timers” in the industry and insider resources used by expert setters.

Prior silversmithing experience highly recommended.

Q: Can I make up a class if I miss one?
A: Yes, there are make up classes on Monday nights from 6-9 PM, or by appointment during the day during the week, so missing a class is no problem.

Q: Are materials included in the cost of the class?
A: No. Stone and ring samples are provided while students provide their own tools. The Practice Kit will include silver practice plates, practice rings and practice gems that costs $40 (includes most tools).

Attended: Flush Setting
wonderful class and instructor. I have done some jewelry making but my mom never had and we had a great experience and came out with beautiful projects!

Attended: Flush Setting
The class was fabulous! The instructor was so knowledgeable and is a very good teacher. The small class size made it easy to ask him questions throughout the sessions. The studio was well-equipped and nicely set up for individual work as well as collaboration. All in all, a great experience. I will certainly sign up for more classes at Liloveve!
