What you'll learn in this intro to programming class:

Calling all high school students!

Ever wonder what it’s like to work at a tech company?

In this workshop, we’ll look at the many aspects of what goes into building a product like Facebook or Twitter. Students will wear many hats, playing the role of product designers, developers, and customers. To top it all off, students will build their own application and gain a basic understanding of the Ruby programming language.

This is a great introduction to programming for teens in grades 9-12.

Tools of the Craft

We teach using real professional software tools. There's no contrived software environments designed "for kids." Your kids are smart, we treat them that way. By exposing students to the inner workings of their computers, our goal is to have them begin to see technology as a tool for creation, rather than purely a medium for consumption.

How We Teach

We provide industry-caliber education. We work closely with employers to develop a curriculum that is aligned with market demand. Students will build and deploy real-world applications using industry standard technologies and practices.

Real learning happens at the edge of your comfort zone. Students will embrace a process of learning that requires stretching into new concepts and results in a richer contextual understanding over time. With this mindset, students become prolific learners and problem solvers.

Technology with a heart, coding is a creative and collaborative endeavor. The best applications of technology happen through the lens of the arts, humanities and human-centered design. We believe great technology makes people’s lives better.

Requirement: Students enrolled in high school.
