What you'll learn in this dye class:

Looking for a way to update your wardrobe? Ice Dyeing is a low stress way to add a unique, colorful touch to your pieces!

Looking for a way to update your wardrobe without breaking the bank? Ice Dyeing is a low stress way to add a unique, colorful touch to your pre-loved or ready-to-be-loved pieces. In this two hour workshop you’ll learn the basics of dyeing with powdered dye and ice, including how to prep your fabric and workspace, set up your ice dye and how to make the most out of your Tulip Dye Pack!

A sister to Tie Dye, Ice Dyeing creates washed out blots of color that mix and blend with the melting of the ice, creating unique styles and patterns - no two pieces will turn out exactly alike!

In this WebJam you will learn:

  • How to prep your fabric for dyeing
  • How to set up your workspace
  • How to apply your ice and powdered dye
  • How to rinse and prep your piece for washing
  • How to troubleshoot and re-dye as necessary

This class is beginner-friendly; no experience necessary! You can grab a t-shirt from your own collection (natural fibers like cotton and linen work best) or use the bandana and/or socks provided in the kit. You should have enough supplies to do two rounds of dyeing (up to 4 projects).

Suggested supplies:

  • Tulip Dye Pack
  • Small metal drying rack
  • 1 cotton bandana
  • 1 pair of white athletic socks
  • Drop cloth

What you’ll need at home:

  • A small-medium sized bowl that will fit under the 8x11” rack
  • Lots of ice! (from a bag, ice machine or from ice cube trays)
  • Apron or clothing you don’t mind getting messy
  • An easy to clean workspace such as a large kitchen sink or bathtub

And this is how a WebJam works:

After you purchase your ticket, you will receive an email with a custom URL link to join. You will be able to add the event to your calendar. Reminder emails will be sent 2 hour and 45 minutes prior to the start. Make sure to login 10 minutes before the WebJam starts to avoid technical difficulties that may delay you.

While using Zoom we strongly recommend video participation. Unlike traditional webinars, we’re keeping our classes small and intimate. CraftJam was founded to foster community amongst its participants and part of this is seeing and interacting with each other as well as the option to receive feedback and support for your projects from your JamMaster.

Remote Learning

This course is available for "remote" learning and will be available to anyone with access to an internet device with a microphone (this includes most models of computers, tablets). Classes will take place with a "Live" instructor at the date/times listed below.

Upon registration, the instructor will send along additional information about how to log-on and participate in the class.

School Notes:
We are BYOB friendly! Crafting is paired best with your favorite drink of choice! But, you must be 21 or over. Younger? Just have a mocktail. No one will notice ;)
