What you'll learn in this culinary (meals) class:

Join us to learn recipes and techniques on how to make Poke, a Hawaiian take on sushi, at home. You’ll learn tips on sourcing ingredients, different recipe variations, and how to make your finished dishes look gorgeous. Sit down at the end of class to enjoy your poke creations, along with wine pairings.

  • Classic Ahi Tuna Poke
  • Salmon Poke Bowl
  • Poke sushi rolls
  • Poke Gyoza Dumplings
*Menu subject to change based on availability

In this class, you'll learn to prepare fresh poke, a raw fish dish originating from Hawaii, meet other foodies, and enjoy the food you helped prepare in an intimate setting on Manhattan's Upper West Side.

Paced for both the experienced cook and the stereotypical New Yorker who only uses her oven to store shoes, you'll understand each recipe from start to finish and learn how to translate restaurant cooking to your home kitchen.

New York is famous for its food -- so take some of its secrets home into your own kitchen.

Hi there! The alcohol is not included in cooking, just for enjoying during the meal. Guests are welcome to not partake in the alcohol. Hope this helps!

There was no alcohol in the recipe. The wine was offered to drink but I had water and enjoyed the class.

The price for the quality of the class is too high, The rice for the sushi were not well cook and is the key point for a good sushi dish. The amount of food were enough to feed 4 people, we were 6 in total and 2 people didn’t come. Just imagine the portions of food if all 8 of us had attended the class. I had attended different Cookin classes with coursehorse for less money with better quality. I am disappointed with this one, I do not recommend it.

The staff was very friendly and the 3 recipes using raw fish were well explained, but for the price of this class, you should offer real crab, not immitation crab, and cook the rice for the sushi rolls with japanese short grain sushi rice. The rice was a regular long grain rice and it was not even well cooked, it had hard grains... so the sushi rolls were really bad.
