Have you ever wondered about the craft and technique that distinguishes authentic New York bagels from all other bagel varieties? Join us for our distinctive and unique bagel-making class that teaches the complete traditional process for creating bagels entirely from scratch. You will learn every step of the authentic method, from initially mixing and kneading the dough, shaping it into the characteristic bagel form, allowing the dough to proof and rise, then boiling and finally baking your bagels to golden perfection. Each participant will create four individual bagels during the class session and will receive their own portion of prepared dough to take home, allowing you to recreate this special bagel-making experience in your own kitchen. You will personalize each bagel with your choice of toppings and will prepare two distinct spread varieties to enjoy immediately and bring home with you.
Specialty Spreads Prepared During Class: Your Chef Instructor will create innovative cream cheese-based spread recipes featuring locally sourced and seasonal ingredients. One spread will emphasize sweet flavor profiles, while the other showcases savory notes crafted with garlic, onion, fresh chives, and other seasonal components depending on ingredient availability. Participants will receive secure take-away containers for transporting cream cheese spreads and convenient paper bags for bringing their freshly made bagels home. You will have breakfast prepared and ready to enjoy the following morning.
Course Accessibility and Requirements: No prior cooking experience is required or expected. We provide all necessary equipment and ingredients; these are readily available items you can easily find at local grocery stores if you wish to practice at home. Our class environment emphasizes an enjoyable, educational experience rather than advanced technical training. Whether you are an enthusiastic home cook who wants to participate in every step of the process or a first-time bagel maker who prefers observing and assisting occasionally (or simply enjoying the food), this class welcomes everyone.
