Class Description

Description

Join makeup and special effects artist Ali Gordon for the Somedevil FX Workshops, a 10-day intensive course where you will select a character of your choice and create a complete silicone appliance along with custom wearable dentures. This course is suitable for both complete beginners and those with prior makeup or effects experience. The instructors will guide you through every step of the process, from life-casting techniques through the design phase, sculpting, mold creation, silicone casting, and final application.

These workshops are designed with a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere, making them the ideal opportunity to create movie-quality character effects while learning special makeup techniques directly from experienced industry professionals.

Breakdown for the Course:

  • Days 1-4: Basic lifecasting, including front of the face and teeth casting
  • Day 5: Introduction to design and concept; introduction to sculpting
  • Days 6-7: Advanced sculpting and refinement
  • Day 8: Introduction to mold making, including demolding and casting techniques
  • Days 9-10: Painting, detailing, and application of completed appliances

Please Note: All materials and airbrushes are supplied for the duration of the workshop; however, you will need to bring wooden sculpting tools, art brushes, baby wipes, and towels. We recommend wearing old clothes as this is a messy and hands-on process requiring frequent contact with sculpting and casting materials.
