Class Description

Description

Making sushi is one of the highest arts found in Japanese cuisine. Learn how to choose fresh ingredients, prepare the components and roll the perfect roll with your chef.

Begin the class with a light and flavorful miso soup with seaweed, radish, tofu, and scallions. Next, comes an assortment of sushi: spicy tuna, Alaskan rolls, and your classic California roll. You'll finish on a sweet note with a delicious matcha ice cream.

If you want a fun activity for your next event, sushi making is an easy hands-on activity your guests will love. Your chef will teach you basic sushi-making skills to create your sushi rolls with confidence. Don't worry if you've only tried sushi in Japanese restaurants in NYC, your chef will provide you with expert guidance in an easy-going and engaging environment. At the end of class, you'll get to enjoy your sushi rolls with your classmates!

Soon you'll be trying out your own creative takes on your sushi rolls. By the end of class, you'll have the confidence to recreate these recipes at home and have sushi night any time!

  • Miso Soup with seaweed, dashi, tofu, and scallions

  • Handmade Sushi Rolls

Fun and learning experience. Thought it would be more individually base vs group based
  • Handmade Sushi Rolls

Chef Nora was very nice and thoroughly explained step by step how to prepare our rolls. She was very accommodating and a great host! It was a fun learning experience.

The food could have been much better quality. The only appetizing fish was the tuna and the miso soup. There was a mix-up with the sake; our registration indicated that sake was included. We had to ask for it and the 3 of us were given 1/2 of an open bottle to share. The chef was knowledgeable and nice. However, he referred to some problems with registration and what’s included or not included re: sake. The overall experience, while enjoyable, did not measure up to the $130 per person price.

It was a lot of fun and the food was delicious! The chefs were very knowledgeable and patient. What we did in class didn't exactly match the recipes that were emailed later. Also, I would have liked more info about what to look for when purchasing ingredients and tools, more troubleshooting tips. I would have also liked to see all the steps for making the miso soup, like adding the tofu, seaweed, and green onions.
