About The Nonverbal Group
We are a group of academics and professionals who are dedicated to conducting research on nonverbal communication, while furthering the understanding of this relatively new and fascinating branch of social science. An understanding of nonverbal communication provides a wide range of practical applications. Our research, classes, and services are focused on efficacy. We strive to provide research and education that is directly applicable across the wide spectrum of human interaction.
How We Started
Blake Eastman's lifelong passion for nonverbal communication led him to begin formal research in graduate school. After learning proper methods and experimental design, he became fascinated with the prospect of his own original research on the topic. Unfortunately, his degree path in forensic psychology limited his ability to conduct any research on nonverbal communication that would actually be applicable to the real world. Eastman's success as a professional poker player placed him in the financial position to fund his own research.
Throwing all of the chaotic academic red tape and grant approvals aside, he set out to learn more about this growing topic on his own. Eastman found the dynamic nature of the dating scene to be the perfect environment to begin. He taped first dates, set up blind dates, conducted thorough interviews, and observed bar patron activity. It was in this world that he learned volumes about dating, body language, and attraction. The evidence was simple: poor daters had poor body language understanding. They projected the wrong image and were unable to decode the body language of their date.
In 2009, Eastman founded The Nonverbal Group to help people get a better understanding of body language as it relates to the world around them. A good class is one that changes your life when you leave. Our classes in nonverbal education open your eyes and enable you to see things that 99% of the population does not.
