Mr. Legaspi's artworks are derived from internal mediation of the subject matter at its essence, all the while keeping a heightened sense of visual aesthetics. He often projects a sense of an empirical inherent beauty, which is his imprint of positivity on his worldly perspective. The artist's figurative work often depicts figures in a conflict, a dilemma or an unresolved state reflecting his own penchant for investigating the dualities and ironies of human nature. Working primarily in representational imagery allows him to portray facets of the human psyche with an immediate palpable impact.
He has studied art at St John's University, The Art Students League and The New York Academy of Art . He also has been lecturing and teaching studio art as well as art history and art appreciation courses at various colleges and institutions for the last 13 years. He has most recently been exhibiting with the Dacia Gallery in The Lower East Side, New York City.
Great class! This was my very first oil painting class and I feel like I walked away learning a lot about not only how to paint but how to continue practicing on my own (i.e., what supplies to purchase, how to maintain tools, etc.). Thomas (the teacher) is awesome!! He was very clear with instructions and patient in answering all of my questions.
He was very friendly and spent time answering any questions that class participants had. He was experienced and knew exactly what was needed to capture my thoughts and ideas for my painting.
Amazing first session. Intimate and very instructionally hands on.
