Description

The Finishing Series provides the knitter with discussion and demonstration of various tools and techniques for finishing projects with polished, professional results; focus is on finishing seamed garments.

This is a six hour class taught in two parts. Workshop participants must sign up for the whole thing. The series is comprised of three workshops focusing on the following areas:

Blocking: preparation of knitted pieces for final construction, including blocking, sizing and care of hand-knit fabric and fibers.
Joining: covers myriad aspects of seaming, grafting, and finished openings, as well as planning the right methods for individual projects.
Embellishments: discusses add-ons such as buttonholes and bands, buttons, pockets, and edgings for knitted garments as well as picking up stitches.

Participants should bring:

Current finishing projects or 6 stockinette swatches (24 sts wide by 4 inches in length) swatches
Tapestry needles, a variety of knitting needles to practice techniques
100 yards of practice yarn
Spare project yarn if using actual project pieces for class
Pattern documentation/schematic for project if applicable.

Note: Materials are not included and must be purchased at our store. No outside materials will be allowed in class.

Please arrive at least 15 minutes early to pick out and purchase your materials.

School Notes: Please note: Materials must be purchased at The Yarn Company before class. All materials will be available there for purchase, and you may contact them directly to find out about cost.

Refund Policy

We do not offer refunds, but we do offer date switches based on the following rules.

For Absolute Beginners Crochet or Knitting, if you contact us more than 72 hours prior to your class, you may transfer to another scheduled date of the class. If you contact us less than 72 hours before the class, we unfortunately cannot offer a refund or date switch.

For all other classes, we require 5 days notice for date switches, and we do not allow refunds.
