Learn to crochet! Whether you're a total beginner, or a long-lost crocheter who needs a refresher... if you've been wanting to learn to get your crochet on, this class is for you!

In just three hours you'll learn the basics of this simple, portable craft for turning string into fabric. With a hook, some chunky yarn and a little basic know-how, you'll be on your way to crochet happiness as you create a warm, chunky cowl!

In this class, you’ll learn the basics of crochet, including:

Yarn & hook information
How to begin your crochet project
The single and double crochet stitches
How to work back in forth in straight, even rows
You'll begin making a chunky scarf or cowl

Materials List

All materials needed for class are available to be purchased at our shop in person or online as a local pick up order at a 10% student discount. Please note, within 24 hrs of registering for the workshop, you will receive a discount code for the materials needed.

For Crochet 101 you will need:

1 size 12mm Crochet Hook
1 ball of Crazy Sexy Wool (we highly recommended starting out with a lighter color so you can see your stitches better as you are learning)

Refund Policy

We do not issue refunds on workshop registrations.

If you register for a workshop and later become unable to attend, we will gladly offer a credit if you notify us at least 5 business days before the workshop.
We are unable to offer credits of any kind, or honor reschedule requests, with less than 5 business days advance notice.

In fairness to all of our customers, we are unable to make exceptions to our policy, including for reasons of illness or travel. If you are unable to attend a workshop at the last minute, we suggest giving your spot to a friend!

In any event where a customer wants to cancel their enrollment and is eligible for a full refund, a 5% processing fee will be deducted from the refund amount.

I had never even picked up a ball of yarn before -- and I have a history of being klutzy and nervous when it comes to this sort of skill. The instructor (Ginny or Jenny; I forgot to get the spelling!) was amazing -- so patient, clear, and good-natured! She anticipated what problems we might be having and tried to help us avoid them; she was very funny and reassuring. I left with about half my cowl done, which, believe me, was more than I expected! I hope to finish it at a later session, when I can count on her wise guidance. And Brooklyn Craft Company is always a fun place to shop and just hang out. I love their offerings -- they always have something fun and new to try. This was a truly enjoyable experience!

Really fun class! The teacher was fantastic, and took time to work with each individual student to make sure everything was going smoothly. I walked in with minimal experience, and walked out feeling confident with crochet. Will definitely take future classes!

The class was ok, and I appreciated that the instructor strived to give each person individual attention. She was also very kind. However, there was very little actual class instruction and a lot of waiting around for her to become available to help us individually. In the meantime, I was left to my own devices and did the whole scarf in the completely wrong stitch. It wasn’t until my sister in law looked at the scarf that she was able to tell right away what I had been doing incorrectly. It’s disappointing to pay $45 for a course and $50+ for material to not have the instructor tell you what you’re doing incorrectly. We also did not learn how to link the two pieces of the cowl together.
