Reviews for Printing Classes in NYC

Printing Classes in NYC are rated 4.6 stars based on 856 verified reviews from actual CourseHorse.com purchasers.

  • I thoroughly enjoyed the class. I was able to learn a lot and the teacher was extremely knowledgeable and willing to help you create your vision.
  • I feel like it would’ve beneficial for this class being a half hour longer (at least for those who want more intricate designs), but either way I LOVED it. The instructor was helpful and informative and showed enthusiasm in everyone’s works. Worth the value. Have already told people about the class and am hoping to come again.
  • Exploring Block Printing was a fantastic one day course. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The instructor was very friendly and knowledgeable. I will go back and do another course!
  • The calligraphy class was an excellent experience. The instructor demonstrated extensive knowledge and provided thorough guidance throughout the course. Each week offered a thoughtful balance of instructional time and hands-on practice, which allowed for both learning and immediate application. It was particularly valuable to learn from such an experienced instructor with a long history of teaching and practicing calligraphy.
  • I'm having a lot of new solo experiences these days. I felt really comfortable in the class. The instructor was supportive and took the time explain and the process. It was fun to get a taste of the craft.
  • Had a really great experience. Instructor was very helpful and walked through each step of the process. Ended up making a really cool t shirt, would do it again!
  • The class was great. The teacher was so nice and helpful, the location was so cute, and the supplies were superb!!!
  • I really enjoyed the screen printing crash course. My instructor was super knowledgeable about the process and thorough in her instruction. We had a small group so she was able to give detailed feedback to each person about their design. I came into the class with zero background in screen printing and left the class wanting to spend more time learning! And Carousel’s Press is such a cool space.
  • Fantastic class! I learned so much by experimenting through the guidance of Ms. Grey. Doing sample silk pieces with different types of silk, different types of leaves, different types of colors, and by seeing what others had done and asking about their own techniqueswith sample pieces. I'm so happy with my final scarf. I've now registered for other courses being taught by Ms. Grey. She is an outstanding, and fun instructor!
  • Wonderful class! The instructor Omi Gray was fantastic. She was patient, and had a great sense of humor. Her instructions were thorough and easy to understand. She was well prepared for the class. I loved the several practice samples we made. They allowed a lot of hands-on self instruction that ensured the final scarf would turn out great! Can’t wait for the Nuno Felt Scarf class in October with her.
  • This course was perfect for beginners as well as people with some experience that they’re trying to reconnect with Great blend of available support if you have questions, but much more space to explore and experiment than any other art class I’ve taken. I loved that the instructor focused on what the outcome of your choices would be (“that would create a more faded effect”, “that might make the two colors more blended and less distinct”) than whether the choice was the “right” or “wrong” technique Made me excited to explore block printing with fewer rules. Thank you!!
  • Taka is a great teacher. This is a mellow, laidback class, create at your own pace.
  • Really fun, laid back class.
  • Great class, really thorough and I had a great result of 7 really nicely printed items.
  • Great class. Provides people an opportunity to screen print with little to no equipment. Rare find.
  • Ian was great, very cool class and a great product to walk away with!
  • I simply had a blast! Ian was very accommodating with schedule and generous with his time and knowledge. I was a little late and the workshop ran overtime so we could finish the printing. Very positive experience, excellent product, highly recommend!
  • Excellent class! Instructor very knowledgeable and patient with students adopting a new skill. Learned a lot. Highly recommend to anyone wanting to know more about block printing.
  • Karin explained the process and shared samples to kickstart ideas. She was knowledgeable, patient, and flexible.
  • Highly recommend taking this course! I enjoyed learning a new art technique and Taka was a great instructor!
  • I enjoyed the class. I would like to take it again. In the meanwhile, I will practice my calligraphy. I learned the basics and would like to continue.
  • Ian is very easy to talk to and very knowledgable. He'll answer any questions you have! He is very detailed in his teaching and sharing of knowledge. Enthusiastic and fun class!!
  • It was great; I may even go back again with other friends some day. I've already recommended it some people I know who enjoy arts/crafts. I enjoyed the history/background at the beginning, as well as the actual silkscreen printing activity. It was a full house the evening I went, which was fun, and not an issue for me, but potentially a bit overly close quarters for some.
  • Phil was a great instructor! I enjoyed the class and learned a lot!
  • Ian was great! Loved learning from him and getting to talk to him about his business/life. He was a great teacher and very laid back which made me and my wife feel so comfortable. He answered all of our questions and made us feel right at home! I feel confident that I could now do this on my own which I feel is the point of taking a class, it gives you knowledge and confidence to move forward with skills and confidence to do it on your own! Thank You Ian!
  • Great course, learned a lot and the professor was super helpful!
  • Red taught a very fun class and was an incredibly informative instructor! Definitely worth the trip to Governor's Island
  • Loved it! Made amazing prints with lots of help from our teacher, Red.
  • This fabric printing class was very enjoyable, I highly recommend learning from Ian at his studio. You get the gratification of printing with your own screen on your own shirts right away which feels empowering, and it’s fun too!
  • I booked this class and I appreciated the The teacher . He was really friendly with me, showed me plenty details. Thanks to him
  • This class is the best value for money! You will have plenty of time to learn and practice the basics taught by Phil. He is experienced and will give you the space and the support you need to start you screenprinting journey. I highly recommend this class
  • I was so excited to learn about fabric printing. I was able to transfer an original design for "The Kong Show!" a comedy variety show that I coproduce, onto a silkscreen to create a fun t-shirt design. I was able to use the same design for a mouse pad and now I want to try sweatshirts and hoodies, too. Now I have great gifts that I can give to fans and friends. And the printing is of such a high quality that I have also sold t-shirts too. The instructor Ian Snow is very knowledgable and I enjoyed the workshop. I'm looking forward to the next one. I have several design ideas that I want to try. The best part of the course is that I now have my own screen of the design. This is an excellent course. Anyone from artists, to sports teams, to designers creating their own brand, could benefit from this course. I can see it as a fun kid's activity too. How cool it would be for kids to take a drawing made at home or at school and transform it into a t-shirt design!
  • Really fantastic hands on class with a super knowledgeable instructor who was very patient and had wonderful tips! Loved it.
  • Karin was an amazingly patient, supportive and attentive teacher. This was my first block printing class and she was able to teach in a way that was approachable, fun and made space for me to make errors/learn. Would definitely take another class with her! Also super fun space to learn in!
  • The class painted a wonderful scene from Provence... we learned several new techniques in this 2day class. Jade did an excellent job taking us through the painting. With one on one instant guidances.
  • A very enjoyable and challenging class!
  • Linocut Printmaking — Materials Included

Katrina was very helpful to us and quickly made us comfortable with the mechanics of the materials and process. She touched on an interesting array of techniques and showed examples of what can be done. We could see that there was still plenty to learn but that a little effort and practice could give us pleasing results. We're busy thinking up projects that could employ these materials as we improve our skills. A very enjoyable class experience.
  • I loved Taka Maruno's class. An accomplished artist himself, he is also the ideal teacher -- patient, inclusive and easygoing, but clear in his instructions and gentle but firm in his advice when asked for feedback or input on aesthetic decisions. With students ranging from accomplished professional artists to rank beginners like myself, I appreciated the relaxed and individual attention he gave us to work on individual projects at our own pace, while also gathering us for demonstrations of techniques. Taka introduced us to a range of techniques from drypoint to chine-collé and all in the context of creating unique monotype prints of all sizes. I did not see the 3 hours go by -- it was pure flow! Deep bow to Taka Maruno!
  • Linocut Printmaking — Materials Included

I am finding this art form meditative and fun. I am glad I took the course and got introduced to the fundamentals. Katrina Acebedo was an amazing instructor. Good energy, warm, friendly, helpful.
  • Loved the teacher and the pace of the class. I learned lots and still had a lot of time to practice. It was a really useful classf for a beginner and I even made something I'm pretty happy with!
  • My second class with Scarlett. She’s great!
  • Linocut Printmaking — Materials Included

Katrina was all-in for my questions and discussion around the basics of Lino printing. It was a great intro to the art and I am looking forward to to the next session.
  • The instructor was wonderful! We learned every letter and practiced words. Very fun!
  • Mark showed us each letter of the alphabet and some very cool techniques too. It was a fun class - very relaxing - would definitely recommend it to anyone starting out.
  • Enjoyed the pace, the instructor was clear and easy to follow and I came away with some new skills (with much practice up ahead!)
  • I loved this class! It was just marvelous. And I loved hearing about some of the history of copperplate as well. Laura Di Piazza is an absolutely terrific teacher and calligrapher. She really couldn't have been better--she was super professional, but very kind and funny. I left the class feeling so encouraged and incredibly excited about the art of calligraphy and where it might lead.
  • Really good beginner's class, lots of useful handouts, very thorough explanations, and an experienced and patient teacher. Highly recommend this class for anyone who wants the basics of broad pen calligraphy.
  • kind, sensitive, encouraging teacher. Great introduction to calligraphy
  • Great class! The instruction was precise and easy to understand. I have always wanted to learn calligraphy and this was a great introduction!
