Silver I & II – Stone Setting

Learn to construct bezel settings for cabochon, faceted gemstones, and fancy shaped stones and how to use gallery wire for a lacy, delicate looking setting. Designed to be worn alone, or stacked together in multiple configurations, these rings are perfect fashion accessories. Dress up your fingers with your very own set of rings using round, square and twisted wire and adorn with gemstones in assorted colors, shapes, and sizes. Working with sterling silver, we use hammer and stamps, as well as high polish, and oxidized finishes to accentuate textures and highlight designs. Students may bring their own stones or purchase from the tutor’s collection. Materials are provided except for tools.

This course is open level, beginner students are welcome as are more experienced jewelers.

Q: Can I make up a class if I miss one? 
A: Yes, there are make up classes on Monday nights from 6-9 PM, or by appointment during the day during the week, so missing a class is no problem.

Q: Is there anything else I should be aware of to be prepared for class?
A: Students should wear clothing that they don't mind getting a little messy (you most likely won't get dirty in class but just in case). Students are encouraged to bring a notebook and pencil, their ideas and some sketches.
