The Jalopy Theatre and School of Music offers classes in guitar, fiddle, mandolin, banjo, ukulele, ensemble classes and harmony singing. They also offer workshops on a variety of musical
techniques, styles and histories for adults and kids.
Instructors of this school hope to make learning an instrument both approachable and fun. With a light-hearted, song-based learning style, students begin learning songs immediately.
Their classes are taught in a group setting. This gives the students a relaxed atmosphere in which to learn and a chance to make friends with shared interests, while making classes more
affordable. Class levels range from absolute beginners to advanced players.
I loved this class! Chris was a great teacher and the Zoom format ended up working fairly well for a music class. Definitely recommend!
Fun class. I'm looking forward to the next session.
This was awesome. I had a great time.
We had a blast. We would like to continue and possibly look into introduce to my work agency.
I am a director of a Supported Living apartment program for adults with Intellectual disabilities.I did the class with some of the individuals who live in the program it was a great way to spend some time together over zoom and have fun. Definitely something we do again Joan
Bruce was great. He kept the class going at a smooth pace while frequently checking in to make sure everyone understood what we were doing and answer everyone’s questions. I learned a lot while having a great time. I’m looking forward to Bruce’s next class!
The course was small and intimate and the teacher was very patient. Jalopy is a wonderful neighborhood music school that is truly unique. I'd love to explore music of a different genre, but I think that comes later :)
All in all a really helpful, fun class. The instructors broke down harmony in such a way that it was easier to grasp. My one criticism was that the class was overbooked and the room got extremely cramped.
Great community, great instructors. Song choices and style wasn't what I'm used to singing but still great practice and learnings. Everyone was very welcoming and supportive. It was a cramped space and seemed to be overbooked, so maybe limiting the class size would be helpful!
Loved learning some of the Beatles early songs and Ernie was a great teacher. Nice and easy and I learned a bunch!
