Top Hops is a beer shop, tasting bar, and culture center that celebrates the joy of craft and import beers with in-depth courses based on their over 600 bottles and cans of beer.
Top Hops is Ted Kenny’s dream come true. A beer shop, tasting bar and culture center for craft and import beers, all in one establishment. It’s the kind of place where seasoned beer geeks can share their enthusiasm and new craft beer fans can learn a bit more about the magic combination of hops, yeast, barley and water. Top Hops is not just a retail store — it’s a celebration of beer, and the good people who brew it.
Our environment is simple and cozy, with space to browse over 600 bottles and cans from around the world. Join us at our tasting bar where you can sample a flight of freshly poured beer, or try out a bottle from the fridge. And as always, we’ll fill up a growler of fresh beer for you to take home with you to enjoy later. Bring it back and fill it up anytime.
Top Hops offers more than just great tasting beer. We host a wide range of educational events, book signings, brewmaster visits and food pairings. We foster appreciation for the craft and history of great beer. We are merchants AND advocates.

Virtual Tasting: Beers Around the Virtual World

Eric’s Virtual Beers Around the World class was awesome. For starters, he picked an awesome variety of beers. I drink a lot of beer, visit a lot of breweries and beer shops, but it was great to be (re-)introduced to some styles that are easy to forget and appreciate when you lean towards IPAs and there are so many to try these days. The beers were great and he also had good reason to choose each, so the background story on each was informative. And of course, he found a way to fit my juicy IPA preferences into the mix. Judging by my girlfriend’s experience, the class is great for the non-beer enthusiast as well. Looking forward to doing another class tailored to other beer interests with Eric and some friends who are into beer.

Kevin was super knowledgeable and engaged with the entire class at their own level. I learned a lot and told others about it!

Fun and informative. You get 5-6 mini glasses of beer like the size you’d get with a flight. I say 5-6 because it was 5 as part of the class but at the end she let us taste one more because someone asked a question about a certain style so I’m not sure that extra glass is always a thing. I think I’d rather take the couples class next time. It’s only a $15 more per person and includes food and an hour open bar at the end. This doesn’t include food and only get you 10% off at the bar after.

I highly recommend this class for anyone who is into beer or just looking for something fun to do. Class was held in a middle of a beer shop/bar in LES. The background noise and activity added to the energy without it being too distracting. The instructor, Josh, was an excellent balance of entertaining and incredibly knowledge. I was also impressed w/ the value. Over the course of the 1.5hr class, you taste 12 beers, many of which are fairly expensive or super difficult to get in the states. I've taken a ton of tasting classes on CourseHorse (not a lush, I swear!) and I think this one is my favorite. Can't wait to take my next class w/ Josh

This class was great! Instructor was laid back and made everyone feel at ease. He taught us a lot including the history of the beer styles and breweries, and what to look for when tasting a beer, but kept it very fun and entertaining the whole time.

Awesome class! Learned a lot about all types of beer. Instructor was great and super friendly. When I booked this class, I originally thought it was a bit expensive but it was actually worth every penny because we got to try a lot of unique and interesting types of beer (none of which was cheap). Would absolutely return for another class!

Vermont Beer: The Real Story

Really great class! Our instructor was incredibly knowledgeable and the beer selections were really tasty, diverse and interesting. The ONLY reason why I'm knocking off a star is because the time is just way too early for so much beer without any food. I think if continuing with a morning class, it needs to be paired with a meal. Otherwise, I suggest moving it to a later time. But honestly, we had a lot of fun, learned a lot, enjoyed all the flavors, and bought more delicious beer to take home. Great class!
