Joe was founded in 2003 as a singular specialty coffee house in Manhattan’s west village with the simple vision of brewing the highest quality, unique coffees and serving them with unsurpassed hospitality and knowledge. In order to bring such highly curated coffees to our customers, we worked alongside some of the most renowned domestic and international roasteries. With the July 2013 launch of our own roasting operations in red hook, Brooklyn, we now roast 100% of our own single-origin and blended offerings. whether in the roastery or in one of our now 10 cafes, we strive to effect our deeply rooted core value proposition: the desire to build, maintain and strengthen community at every level from producer to customer.
We strive to be a source of information and experience for coffee enthusiasts of all varieties. Join our lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on classes to explore brew methods, milk crafting, coffee processing and evaluation.
Great class, great teachers, very interactive and knowledgeable. I was so tired from intense mon-fri work but the class was so well delivered. Thank you so much!
Jake and Marissa were great teachers!
Content was not bad. Overall good experience but it was somewhat disorganized particularly at the end, when we would discuss the characteristics of the different coffees that we had. Also, they did have stools for people to seat available but they were on the side. When a few attendants asked if it would be ok for them to seat down while the instructors were speaking and teaching, they seemed very annoyed. They could have had the stools ready for everybody to seat as opposed of having people stand for the whole class.
The class was very informative about the science behind milk and lattes, which was very cool! I feel like we got a good amount of time to figure it out, it was very well thought out.
Felt as though the class wasn't very well thought out or structured. It felt very sterile and wasn't particularly fun or engaging as a class. I learned some tips on how to improve my latte art, but not sure it works as an all levels class. I felt as though beginners weren't given enough guidance, and for slightly more advanced people, the instructors weren't particularly forthcoming. I asked a few questions but the instructors weren't that helpful. There were two instructors, one male and one female, and you could definitely tell the male instructor was more enthusiastic. Maybe because we were there from 2-5pm on a cold day or whatever, but the female instructor really didn't look like she was engaged in our class. I also thought they could have opened up both espresso machines for the students to use as they were next to each other anyway because there was a lot of waiting around for other people to finish.
Best Class ever Keyla is the best instructor Thank you
Excellent class, great instructions and pleny of opportunity to practice.
I thought the class was fun and beneficial for the beginners. The mentors Michael and Nich were helpful and had performed detailed demonstrations throughout the class. We gained fundamental knowledge and technique about brewing a perfect cup of espresso, steaming milk in a correct manner and create latte art which i thought is the most interesting part of the class. At the end, looks like we need more continuous practice to make a perfect cup of coffee. Thanks to Joe Coffee Company
Ed made this class so interesting and fun! We learned about roasting and tried our different roasts, and Ed shared interesting stories about his experiences in coffee roasting and sourcing. I really loved this class!
Had a great time in this course and learned a lot about the coffee business, in addition to brewing methods and production process. The instructor was very knowledgeable, friendly and communicative.
