Saturday Nov 23rd, 3pm - 6pm
Specializing in fine ceramics, each porcelain piece is handmade combining traditional Mingei style Japanese Art and Industrial Design to make a “New Modern” style of functional porcelain. Mingei is the handcrafted art of ordinary people and coined by Yanagi Soetsu, who saw beauty in the ordinary and utilitarian objects made by unknown craftsmen.
For Yanagi, everyday objects made by common folk are beyond beauty and ugliness. Mingei crafts are typically produced by hand in quantities, inexpensive, used by the masses, functional in daily life and representative of the region where the objects are produced.
Such a great class, wonderful space and super inviting vibes. Really enjoyed the way that Kevin gave us background on porcelain and some basic understandings and his very encouraging ways! Highly recommend taking!
We loved this class! I can’t wait to return to pick up my finished pieces. Would recommend!
Great group of people to work with and it was a fun class. Can’t wait to see the final product.
Really enjoyed this class! It's VERY relaxed and low key. Feel free to grab a coffee between stages. Plenty of time to make additional pieces (for a fee). I have already recommended it to friends.
Super sweet instructors. Easy for even the most beginner. Highly recommend!
Super fun and the instructor is great!
Great class, I will definitelly sign for more!
It was such a fun way to spend a Saturday. I wish it had been a little longer in order for me to have been more playful with designing the ceramics, but it was great and the instructor was delightful. Take the Ferry to greenpoint and go!
Suji is an excellent teacher! Looking forward to more classes here. So much fun!
The class was pretty amazing! Beginner friendly as advertised and the teacher was sure to give attention to all pupils.
