FAQs

What are some of your most popular classes that you offer on CourseHorse?

  • I offer a variety of jewelry techniques courses and since they all focus on teaching a "specific skill" - they are all quite popular. My way of instructing is always thorough and from the ground-up, so even a complete beginner can follow along and come away with a beautiful finished design. The most popular is probably my "Recycle-Redesign" Workshop, where my students can bring in their broken or unwanted jewelry to either repair it or create something completely new and different from either their own piece, or someone else's "trash" - turning it into their "treasure".
How long have you been in business? Can you share a 1-2 sentence history of the school and how it was founded?

  • I've been teaching for the past 4 years, and I've had my jewelry design business for about 13 years. I started out creating jewelry as I'm truly fascinated by color and gemstones, and found jewelry making to be a great vehicle for combining those 2 elements to create powerful creations that bring joy and inspiration to the wearer. Then I realized that I wanted to share that love for jewelry making with other women, to help them learn techniques of how to make their own inspired designs so I opened the design studio that I have now.
What is your average class size?

  • Our average class size is 4-6 students. It is my ideal class size as it allows me to offer individualized attention to each student during the lesson. I do, however, sometimes have larger-group classes - and offer private events and parties too.
What is your typical student like? What are their goals?

  • Our students are typically who are creative and crafty, and eager to learn and new skill. I truly believe that all of us are talented in our own way - and always encourage my students to play around with color, textures and techniques I teach, and love seeing their unique creations come to life.
Can you recommend 1-2 activities to do in the neighborhood before or after class?

  • My studio is located in the Financial District, and with it's Renaissance in the past few years, there is so much to do around. If you're visiting NYC from another city/country, or live uptown or another borough, it's worth making a trip to the Oculus, or visiting one of the many shops in the Brookfield Mall or the new Westfield Mall. There are also a ton of nice cafes around the Piers and taking a walk along the water is beautiful and relaxing.
