What you'll learn in this public relations course:
Producer, publicist, writer & Q.E.D. owner Kambri Crews gave this workshop at the West Virginia Writer's Conference and the feedback was phenomenal, so she brought it to Q.E.D.
You're a performer, writer, artist, business owner, musician, athlete, you name it and you want to be noticed for how awesome you (and/or your work) are?
You must toot your own horn loudly and often.
This 1.5 hour workshop* taught by publicist and producer Kambri Crews will give dozens of very practical, easy to follow tips and ideas ranging from how to write a press release, who to contact at media outlets and how to build a "platform". You'll also receive various samples of press releases & "pitch" letters Kambri has used to promote her personal appearances, her memoir and clients. You'll talk about pitching the media, using social media, keeping track of your contacts and so much more.
We'll have 30 minutes afterward to as mix and mingle and ask more questions offline if that's your thing.
School Notes:
OUTSIDE FOOD & DRINKS ARE NOT ALLOWED. QED has coffee, tea, soda, beer & wine plus snacks and pre-made wraps and sandwiches available.
Refund Policy
- We require at least 8 business days notice before a class in order to issue a refund less 5% cancellation fee and there are no transfers to future classes allowed.
- Tickets are transferable meaning we will allow anyone to take your place in class, so check around with your friends to see if someone else would like your spot.
In case of bad weather, classes WILL always take place unless the subway system is closed down. If you have issues traveling, please keep this in mind when you purchase your ticket. If the school do cancel for an emergency, we will try to reschedule the class on the same day of the week at the same scheduled time as soon as possible. If you cannot make the rescheduled date, we will refund you the price of your seat.

Kambri is an excellent resource with a lot of useful information. She's definitely a hustler and that was the main takeaway from this class - tips on how to make yourself stand out and essentially "sell yourself." I love that she provides you with a link to some google docs with all of the class information as well as samples of PR letters, etc. My only wish is that there was more information on concrete things to do to use social media to build your brand. QED has a lot of followers, and she tells you what to do to get those followers to become loyal/subscribe to your site, but not how to build the platform from the ground up when you have few contacts to work with. From the description I thought there would be more information on this but it was breezed over rather quickly.

I have taken several classes on marketing through corsehorse. This was the cheapest at only $30 and thought if I come away with just one thing it will be worth it.
To my surprise I learned much more than I expected and stuff that is incredibly useful.
Build Your Platform showed the how to and the importance of organizing and building your contact list and get your image out to the public.
