Four Week Adult Acting Foundation Course

Whether you are an aspiring Actor, or wish to revitalize your creativity, this is an energetic, inspiring and enriching experience of four consecutive weeks of an actors life.

Participate in a planned progression of workshops concentrating on core techniques to give students a foundation in acting and valuable transferable skills.

The course runs from 1:30pm to 3:00pm on Saturdays at The New York Performing Arts Academy at Pearl Studios, located in Midtown Manhattan.  Please come with a prepared monologue with a printed copy for our instructors.

Course Content:
Stage Acting – how to approach script, be directed in scene work, create a character and be confident and imaginative in rehearsals.
Screen Acting – gain an insight into the techniques used by screen actors. Rehearse on camera with playback and analysis. Perform a directed piece to the camera.
Movement – understanding body language, gain confidence in physicality and create collaborative choreography.
Voice – learn how the voice works and to use the voice safely, gain control, volume, authority and a broader vocal range.

Our Approach:
The Four Week Foundation Acting Course does not adhere to just one school of thought on technique. You will experience an insight into various styles such as Method, Stanislavski and Meisner. Our acting coaches are all working, professional actors and directors who bring to bear their own expertise. This enables a full and rounded approach allowing you to establish effective techniques that work for you as an individual.

We firmly believe in the value of Acting and Drama Courses for developing life skills, irrespective of whether you want to pursue acting in a sustained way. Acting techniques are transferable to your working and social life enabling you to gain confidence and explore your imagination and creativity.

Who can join this course?
This course is designed for Beginners and those with a little experience of acting or drama classes. It is formulated to allow students a progression in building skills and self-confidence. Many people search for an opportunity to explore this side of their persona and find it an invigorating and exhilarating experience. 

The course is for those aged 10 years and older. There is no maximum age. At The New York Performing Arts Academy we are proud of our wide age range of participants. Acting is one of those disciplines where ‘life experience’ is deemed a great advantage!

Do I Need to Audition?
This workshop does not require you to audition. The course is carefully planned to ensure it is challenging and demanding for each individual and tailored to the experience or confidence level of participants.

Please Note: This class is for ages 17 and up, meaning both children and adults are able to attend.
