What you'll learn in this self improvement class:

Integrative Addiction Solution: Rewiring the Addicted Brain

Learn an adaptable system to break even the most entrenched habituated patterns. The basic addictions protocol has three levels:

  • Arm the person with the understanding of how habits are formed, change the brain by giving them six different techniques to stop cravings and the emotions that control them, and teach techniques that offer relief from the cravings
  • Work to change the emotional impact of past traumas, associations, and core beliefs/emotions in addicts, and re-encode/install positive belief and motivators
  • Teach addicts personal power by developing alternative strategies for reward, and based on the work of willpower/meaning, we cultivate new values using different forms of self-hypnosis for motivation and insight

Ten Course Learning Objectives:

  • Participants will learn the latest research in neuroscience and brain neuroplasticity as it relates to re-wiring habituated patterns in the addicted brain.
  • To have a basic understanding of the research in priming and embodied cognition, which will enhance the therapeutic rapport of both the conscious and unconscious processing.
  • Participants will learn how to deliver simple bullet metaphors, so your clients understand the work they are doing, as well as foster expectation and motivation.
  • Participants will learn how to empower addicts to systematically create alternative neural networks to engender healthier habits that co-opt the reward center.
  • Participants will be provided with a brief overview of the recent research on memory reconsolidation, and what this implies regarding the formation, storage, and malleability of memory.
  • Participants will learn the essential ingredients for rewriting implicit emotional memories to change longstanding, habituated patterns of thought, emotion, and behavior.
  • Participants will learn the four-step process of change as developed by Dr. Jeffrey Shwartz, MD, and how it can be utilized with affect regulation/pattern interrupts to make the process more applicable for the addicted brain.
  • Participants will learn the four easy-to-apply steps that underlie all neuroplastic change in the brain, and how to facilitate memory reconsolidation in your patients.
  • Participants will learn a rapid form of self-hypnosis that employs mental rehearsal for stress reduction, motivation and goal setting.
  • Participants will learn a powerful protocol based on empirically-validated treatment methods to minimize cravings and the emotional dysregulation that leads to them.

Note: You will receive a copy of Melissa’s book The Anti-Anxiety Toolkit: Rapid Technique to Rewire the Brain.

Question from Anh T.
How many breaks are in this class? Are we allowed to go outside for lunch or are we having lunch and studying at the same time?
Answer from Brenda L. CourseHorse StaffCourseHorse Staff
Hi there! While there won't be formal breaks throughout the class (though the person can step out to use the restroom or just take a few moments if needed) there will be a lunch break when people can leave the building and get lunch (of course they could also bring something and have it in the building). Hope this helps!
