After-School On-Site Art classes (Ages 9-13)

In this after-school class, we will learn practical approaches to drawing and sketching while discovering the stunning art at a different museum location, each week, along Museum Mile.

• Learn new ways to express your creativity in this intimate lesson and have fun at the same time.

• Each class offers the opportunity to engage and directly observe a painting, sculpture, or drawing, and to experiment with a variety of art materials while focusing on the basics including: expressive mark-making, line quality, composition, linear perspective, proportion, value and shading. 

• You will also learn about the techniques of watercolor and Prismacolor, (water-soluble colored pencils). 

• Students will develop a visual vocabulary while also learning about the Elements of Art. 

• All students will have the opportunity to engage in guided inquiry and to develop their own perceptions and opinions about art.

• Leave each week with new skills and confidence to begin creating anything you like.
  

Materials: 

• "Strathmore" Drawing Pads 6" x 8" & "Strathmore" Watercolor Pad 9" x 12" 
• Pencils (3) 2B Pencil, (3) 4B pencil 
• 2 blending stumps
• Black “Micron” Pen: #2, #3, #5
  
• 5 arrow head erasers, “Staedtler” plastic eraser
  
• Two-holed pencil sharpener 
• Prismacolor water-soluble colored pencils
• "Aquash" waterbrush and small container for water
• Water color brushes rounds by “Simply Simmons” 
sizes: #3, #6, #8 
• Watercolors suggested brand: Grumbacher (Transparent) either 12 or 24 pan set

Bring a large plastic envelope or a tote bag to keep supplies in.

Important things to note:

• Classes are ongoing.

• Receive a weekly e-mail notification explaining which museum and exhibition we will visit 

• 2 Make-up sessions  per semester can be arranged on another day during the week

• Materials list will be sent once registration is complete

• Drop off and pick-up will occur at a designated spot at the Museum
