Description

Use that bare wall space to proudly display your favorite books or objects on a shelf you designed and built. In this beginner-level class we will delve into designing shelves that consider load capacity, wall-stud spacing, material choice, and finish selection. You can choose brackets or floating shelf hardware.

You will practice many skills that can be applied to all fields of woodworking: design, layout, marking, power tool use, gluing up, and assembly.

Please Note:

You should have a wall in mind on which to place the shelf.
Design depends a lot on wall composition and stud spacing. Use a stud-finder beforehand to verify and measure stud spacing, and measure the wall dimensions.
If the wall is plaster over brick, fastening the shelf will be more difficult, requiring specialty fasteners and a hammer drill.
Due to the basic nature of this class, we ask that you choose a wall that has wood studding.

Refund Policy

Full refunds less a 5% processing fee will be offered for cancellations that occur 32 days or more before a program's registration deadline (if no deadline, the first day of the program).
Cancellations between 31 and 9 days will be offered a 50% refund or credit toward another class.
Cancellations after the registration deadline or within 8 days of the first day of class (whichever comes first) will not be refunded.
In any event where a customer wants to cancel their enrollment and is eligible for a full refund, a 5% processing fee will be deducted from the refund amount.

I learned a lot in this course and really appreciated the instructor’s patience, humility, and knowledge. He was a wonderful teacher (Wayne Ford) and the shop itself was very spacious and pleasant (nice views of the creek!!). The class was limited to 4 people and that turned out to be an ideal number. Class participants were all nice too.
