Class Description

Description

Expand your knitting skills way beyond the basics!

Focus is on learning techniques (shaping, advanced pattern reading, more intricate stitch patterns, finishing and assembling techniques, including very basic crochet). You are encouraged to bring in your own projects, and/or get suggestions from the instructor on what are the next possibilities in your fabric-making adventure.

Supply List:

  • 2 balls/skeins of worsted or dk weight yarn, smooth texture, NOT cotton (1 in a light colored yarn, the other in a contrasting colored).
Note: More yarn will be needed for subsequent classes (type/quantity will depend on the project(s) chosen).
  • 1 pair knitting needles (bamboo, size 7 or 8 or similar)
  • 1 set double-point needles (bamboo, size 7 or 8 or
  • 1 crochet hook (size G or similar)
  • darning/sewing needle (with large “eye” for yarn), Recommended brand: Clover.
  • Scissors
  • Note pad and pencil or pen

Note:

As this class welcomes knitters of various skill levels, it is possible that you have these and/or other supplies on hand. Feel free to bring to class whatever you would like to from your “knitting bag”. This could be 2 knitting needles and a ball of yarn; it could be a project that is in “mid-stream” and needs some suggestion to get it to the home stretch. We can discuss what tools/supplies might be needed for the various techniques that we will cover in class. Depending on your desire to make certain projects (continue on some already in progress, begin new ones, incorporate new skills, etc.) we can discuss what types of yarns would be suitable for those various ideas.
