What you'll learn in this photography class:

The ability to use flash in daylight for portraits gives you a whole new tool for your creative bag of tricks.

In this workshop we are going to explore a technique known as off-camera daytime flash synchronization . It's not hard at all once you know what it is!

First, we will look at why one would want to use flash for portraits in daytime.

Then we will see how.

We will go over on camera and off camera techniques and differences.

I will explain what "High Speed Sync" is, and when one might want to utilize it.

I will create images using both flash techniques as well as available light to see the differences.

And  I will cover composition, choice of backgrounds, choice of angles and even choice of lenses.

We are using Coney Island as our studio, and we will use workshop participants to model for us. So bring props and dress for photos!

It's OK to bring a non photographer, non-paying friend to pose.

I will post the images from our workshop on dropbox for all participants.

Please bring cameras with manual settings and manual flashes,

If you need, I can provide non HSS manual flashes and wireless triggers. They are available for $15, but I need to know in advance. They will work with most cameras with a hot shoe.

Please contact me in advance to discuss equipment questions you may have.

This workshop is for beginners as well as intermediate photographers who want to learn about hi speed flash synchronization.
