Class Description

Description

What you'll learn in this portrait photography class:

Join us in this hands-on intermediate level course to learn the basics of the compelling portrait.

Explore the principles of posing, composition and lighting patterns that increase the visual impact of a portrait. There are many things that go behind a portrait, such as the relationship between the photographer and the subject. Learn how this relationship can shape the meaning of a portrait.

This class also looks at the work of other photographers not only as a source of inspiration, but also to examine the different situations in which the portrait is used today. Examples of situations which we will be looking at are studio, environmental and self portraits.

Come and learn the importance of portraiture.

Question from Mitchell M.
Do you get a chance to work with actual human models? Also, is all the work studio photography or some of it in natural light?
Answer from Maureen M. Verified Student
Hi Michelle, We used each other as models. It's a really good class Patricia was my instructor and the class is awesome! You will learn a lot I highly recommend taking this class. You will have assignments to work on and the important thing is to learn how to pose your subjects. Hope you enjoy!! Regards
Answer from Georgia C. CourseHorse StaffCourseHorse Staff
Hi Mitchell, this course does not work with professional models. They ask the students for homework to choose a subject so you can work with them for the full course, and in class, you will work with your classmates. Regarding the lighting, this does not work with studio lighting in the course. The course is done to work with natural light. Hope this helps!
