What you'll learn in this jewelry class:

Using porcelain clay, learn techniques for making jewelry of your own design.

In this class, students of all levels create a unique pendant, necklace, ring, earrings or sculptural piece. We explore a variety of forming and decorative techniques including solid and hollow beads, stamps and molds, extrusions, and marbleized clay.

Some supplies and special firings (upon request) are subject to an additional charge.

Important Notes:

  • Our studios come equipped with 25 electric potters' wheels, a gas reduction kiln and three electric kilns. During the fall and spring terms you’ll have the opportunity to take classes using stoneware, and in the summer month’s porcelain is the material of choice.
  • All work is glaze-fired to cone 10. Clay is included in the cost of tuition (unless you use bagged clay, which may be purchased for $20 per 25-pound bag).
  • Firing charge is five cents per cubic inch for two firings for all work made in classes and workshops.
  • Students must supply their own tools, which may be purchased from 92Y.

Question from Kristine R.
Will this class be offered again? At these current dates from January-April 2019, I would miss two sessions. Unless making up those two classes later would be an option? Thanks!
Answer from Brenda L. CourseHorse StaffCourseHorse Staff
Hi Kristine! As of this time, the only schedule we have is the one posted on this page. You may save the class to your wish list so you'll get a notification when we add a new date. Make-up classes are not allowed since other classes may be full. The instructors are also paid based on the number of students within their own classes, so attending a class outside is not allowed.
