Description
Many people give up drawing around age 9 or 10 and grow up to became adults who say they cannot draw. It that’s your experience, and you always wanted to get back to drawing, this is the class for you. Drawing is like bicycle riding, and in this workshop—based on Betty Edwards’ classic book of Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain—you’ll realize that once you know how to draw, you can just follow your eyes without thinking.
Making art is first about how we see things, which is more important than technique. In this workshop, we’ll shake up old habits of seeing and learn to shut down the left, analytic side of the brain. You will learn to train your eyes to do upside down drawing and how to follow your eyes with your hand in contour drawing, concentrate vision on a single object, and do “negative drawing,” shade drawing, 3D drawing, portrait drawing, basic anatomy drawing, and much more.
After you take this class, you will never see objects in the same way again.
Note: A $35 materials fee for a workbook is to be paid to the instructor. Bring to class a letter-size drawing pad, a soft easer, and drawing pencils #B, #2B, #6B and #9B, supplies which can be purchase for $20 or less.

- Refunds are available minus a processing fee* if you cancel up to 11 business days prior to the first day of the program.
- Course credits are available, minus a processing fee* if you cancel up to 3 business days prior to the first day of the program.
*The processing fee for cancellation is $15 for programs costing less than $250, and $35 for programs costing $250 and up.
No refunds or credits will be given for cancellations less than 3 business days prior to the first day of a program, or if a student does not attend a program. The estimated refund processing time is two to three weeks.
