Honza Pelichovský

Teaches at NYC Dance Arts

Honza was born and raised in Prague, Czech Republic where he started training and competing in ballroom dance at the age of eight. Ten years later, during his exchange year at the Public Academy for Performing Arts in Albuquerque, NM, his focus shifted towards jazz, modern, ballet, and contemporary dance forms. In 2012, Honza returned to the States to study and train at Marymount Manhattan College in New York City under the direction of Katie Langan and the mentorship of Catherine Cabeen. Honza recently graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BFA in Dance with a Modern concentration. Throughout his time at Marymount, he had the privilege to perform repertory by Bill T. Jones, Aszure Barton, Twyla Tharp, Dwight Rhoden, Paul Taylor, Murray Louis, and Cherice Barton as well as original work by Adam Barruch, Loni Landon, Alexandra Damiani, and Pedro Ruiz. Honza furthered his dance training at the Mark Morris Summer Intensive as well as at Springboard Danse Montreal where he performed repertory by Victor Quijada and original work by Shannon Gillen and LoudHound Movement. Honza was a member of the MMC Dance Company for three years and has had the privilege to perform at The Joyce Theater, The 92nd Street Y, and the MET Museum in NYC as well as at Usine C and Place des Arts in Montreal. As a freelance dancer residing in Brooklyn, Honza is currently working on a new evening-length work by Katherine Maxwell that will premiere in October at Triskelion Arts.
